Stephen Colbert rips apart GOP’s anti-refugee stance by quoting Bible

Stephen Colbert isn't pleased with the wall of Republicans who are against accepting Syrian refugees into the United States and the recent passing of a bill that calls for stricter vetting of refugees from Iraq and Syria. The "Late Show" host said it was the only thing he wanted to talk about post-Paris attacks.

"The question to let Syrian refugees into this country has become the new political issue, completely overshadowing the old political issue: whether to let Mexicans into this country," he said.

He brought up the lunacy of Donald Trump's joke that Syrian refugees would be very angry about going from their 130-degree heat to Minnesota's 30-degree cold. "These people are going to be very, very unhappy," the real-estate mogul said.

To which Colbert responded, "Yeah, it's a tough call for the refugees. Do I want to stay in a war zone where my family faces almost certain death? Or do I want to go somewhere where I have to put a jacket on before going to the mall?"

He then referred to President Barack Obama's statements in Manila in which he said that the Republicans who oppose the refugees seem afraid of widows and young kids. "First they were worried about the press being too tough on them during debates, now they're worried about three-year-old orphans," Obama said.

Then, Colbert joked, "Why shouldn't we be afraid of three-year-olds? You think we can't negotiate with terrorists? Try negotiating with a three-year-old. They play hardball."

The plot thickens for Colbert after Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush suggested that Christian refugees don't pose any danger. Later, Bush would have a hard time explaining what keeps Muslims from lying that they're Christians. "I think you can prove it," he said without further explanation.

The word “stranger” is properly translated as “sojouner.” The Bible was talking about people passing through, not people coming in as “refugees,” intending to stay, with evil intentions.

Hey Stevie, we wouldn’t have a refugee crisis if it weren’t for obama’s Syria/Libya screw up. So FUSC.

Ahab and Jezebel were refugees and ended up getting eaten by dogs.

Sisera was a refugee and Jael offered him hospitality. When he fell asleep, she drove a tent peg through his head.

Treatment depends on the refugees.

He won’t, but his leftist fanbase is so rabid, that on Reddit, they are lashing out at everyone, especially at other hosts for catering to “stupid people” while Colbert is trying to supposedly run an “intellectual” program.

https://www.reddit.com/r/television/comments/3th2u7/colbert_drops_to_3rd_place_behind_kimmel_as_new/

Just some of the “insightful” comments:

“Awww, he’s offending Republicans? F*CK REPUBLICANS.”

“Colbert is love. Colbert is life.”

“Meh who cares. Colbert has an intelligent show that makes you think. Fallon and Jimmy do not. Most people don’t want to think they just want to laugh.”

“Fallon and Kimmel both rely on s*itty internet skits or other stupid gimmicks. I prefer my late night talk show to talk, not f*cking mouth songs with some 2-bit celebrity. God why do people watch Fallon”

“he’s too smart for about 90% of americans. sounds condescending, but it’s true.”

He’s desperately trying to bring in those viewers to his new show, but is really hemorrhaging the old ones faster. Snarky leftist propaganda =/= ratings success.

Nehemiah, 13:1,2

“1 On that day they read from the Book of Moses in the hearing of the people. And in it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever enter the assembly of God, 2 for they did not meet the people of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them, yet our God turned the curse into a blessing.”

Nehemiah was rebuilding Jerusalem’s wall after the return of the Jews to Israel from Babylon. Several verses warn against those that sought to harm Israel.

Good advice.

"I was a stranger and you welcomed me in."

And see that guy over there...the one with a blood-stained khukri in one hand and a severed head in the other...we're not letting him in. He looks kinda dangerous. Welcoming that guy in would be pretty stupid, don'cha think?

By the way, those women seem to be very willing to put a suicide belt on. I think we learned in Cong that women can blow themselves up just as well as men

I'm an atheist. Quote the bible all you want. Liberals have tried that tactic with me in the past. It shuts them down every time they find out I'm an atheist.

Most of the liberals I know are militant atheists.

Funny that they have found the bible; not surprising that they're trying to twist it to their diabolical aims.

Here's an idea: if they will live by the rest of the bible, I will live by whatever single verse they wish to assign to me.

Besides, it made a convert out of Geraldo Rivera whose daughter was at the soccer game.

I was that were true. I suspect he just saw it as an opportunity for self-aggrandizement. He made a point of letting everyone know that he was attempting to dispatch a private plane to pick her up.

Colbert isn’t aiming his rhetoric at guys like you. He’s aiming it at the VAST MAJORITY of Americans.

Who, based on the polling data, see Colbert's position as the hysterical, absurd, politics based ignorance it is.

Liberals only use the bible when they can beat you over the head with it.

This is what kills me. Colbert is such a pompous absurd blowhard he is actually satirizing the people who worship him. They are rabidly ignorant, infantile psuedo intellectuals who have vastly over inflated notions of their intellectual abilities. Mindlessly regurgitating tehir Leftist ideological brainwashing is not a sign of intellectual sophistication
