There is only one Hindu in Congress and she is a Democrat. But as of Tuesday, there will be a Republican Hindu Coalition, comprised of Indian Americans looking to amplify their voice in U.S. politics.
The group, which formally launches Tuesday evening, isn't aimed at bolstering the ranks of Hindus across the aisle from Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D., Hawaii). Instead, the coalition is focused on advancing conservative policies important to the Republican Hindu community, including fiscal discipline, expanded trade, and forceful defense, said its founder Shalabh Kumar. Mr. Kumar is the chief executive of AVG Group, a cluster of electronics-related companies.

Mr. Kumar, an electronics engineer who was a Democrat before being convinced by former President Ronald Reagan on the campaign trail to become a Republican, is investing $2 million of his own funds. The political action committee connected to the coalition plans to raise at least $5 million, with the goal of raising $10 million for next year's elections, he said.

In 2010, the median annual household income for Indian Americans was $88,000, higher than the $66,000 median for all Asian Americans and the $49,800 median of all U.S. households, according to the Pew Research Center. Indian Americans are also among the most highly-educated ethnic groups, with 70% of those 25 or older possessing a college degree. (About half of Indian Americans are Hindu, but more than 90% of all Asian-American Hindus have Indian heritage, according to Pew.)

“Krishna, the rent is too damn high!”
And I add: True conservative of any stripe are welcome. RINO Rovian GOPe supporters of the minority wing of the Massive Government Appropriators Uniparty are not.
Like many Asians, the Indians are hard working and educated. They can make far more contributions to this country than those simply coming here for a free ride.
I worry that a significant number of Americans are so ignorant that they think that they are Moslem (no, seriously). I have seen this behavior with my own eyes here after 9/11. Could hardly be farther from the truth.
I’ve seen that too but there is damn little one can do to fight that level of stupidity.
I know a few Indians and they are hard working, love the USA, and despise muslims.
I know a home care nurse who has been here 8 years. She learns something new from us every day she is here, but she likes the head of the executive branch. When discussing Paris she was shocked to hear that he is a Muslim.
Just need to add a few more legs ...
Or is it arms ...
That’s cool, there are many conservative Indians, in fact that nation now has a conservative P.M. for I believe the 1st time ever.
While personally and as a friend I would encourage people to trust Christ, I can ally with anyone that wants to limit government and promote conservative politics.
LOL, good one!
And remember, Sabu was the first "GOP Elephant Boy".
Leni
And that is a major UNDERSTATEMENT!
I was a small cog in the large group that constructed the new Mandir, at BAPS of Bartlett Illinois.

There is one about 5 miles from my home, looks very similar: http://www.baps.org/Global-Network/North-America/Houston.aspx
same for Sikhs. you’ll have never more faithful friend and they’ve been battling muslims for centuries.
Hindus hate Muslims.....
....and everybody hates the Jews.
There is a fascinating to look at large Hindu temple one town over from where I live in the Chicagoland Western Suburbs (the most conservative suburbs are the Western ones). The temple is located in Lemont, IL. I occasionally drive around it, and have at times stopped to ask those who go there questions about it.
There are statues exterior to the main temple of I believe Hindu important historical personages. Now that I’m thinking about it, I’m going to find the website for it online (I’m sure they must have one). I’ll Google Hindu Temple in Lemont, IL, and see what pops up.
