Why are Donald Trump and some conservative Christians angry with Starbucks?

On its website, Starbucks pointedly said it was introducing the blend on behalf of its 300,000 employees "from diverse ethnic backgrounds who proudly wear our green apron."

Starbucks is pushing back against suggestions stoked by Republican presidential contender Donald Trump that this year's minimalist design for its holiday cups is a slap at Christmas. Responding to questions about the cups, the Seattle-based coffee purveyor today touted its "exclusive Christmas Blend Vintage 2015" one of several Christmas-themed products available in its stores.

On its website, Starbucks pointedly said it was introducing the blend on behalf of its 300,000 employees "from diverse ethnic backgrounds who proudly wear our green apron." Some religious conservatives have expressed anger over the coffee company's holiday season cups, which this year are a minimalist all-red design with no images aside from the company's green and white logo.

Previous years' cups have featured snowflakes and winter scenes as well as occasional Christmas ornaments. A small number of critics have objected to the design choice, seeing it as part of a larger movement away from exclusively Christian-themed holiday decorations. Trump piled on yesterday when he suggested boycotting the company at a rally in Springfield, Illinois.

"Did you read about Starbucks? No more Merry Christmas on Starbucks," Trump told a capacity crowd of thousands gathered to hear him speak at a rally ahead of tonight's Republican debate. "Maybe we should boycott Starbucks. I don't know," he said. "Seriously, I don't care."

Trump, who has been trying to court evangelical and other conservative Christian voters, has often bemoaned the use of the phrase "Happy Holidays" in place of "Merry Christmas" to cater to non-Christians who don't celebrate the holiday. He said yesterday that: "If I become president, we're all going to be saying, 'Merry Christmas' again. That I can tell you."

In response to questions about Trump's criticism, Starbucks spokeswoman Sanja Gould noted that the company's Christmas blend was available in 23,000 stores in 70 countries starting today. She also directed reporters to several pages on the company's website listing various Christmas-branded coffee blends, as well as "Ugly Sweater" and frosted snowman cookies.

Because they enjoy being angry. Really the cup kerfuffle is retarded. I’m not entirely sure there is one, Starbucks might have faked it to generate press.

From Forbes Magazine:

Starbucks Offers All Veteran Employees Free College For Their Spouse or Child

Just in time for Veterans Day: Seattle-based coffee giant Starbucks is announcing today that it will now extend a 100% tuition-free four-year college benefit to the spouse or child of every U.S. veteran or active military reservist employed 20 or more hours a week.

This new benefit, whose zero-tuition price point results from a 42-58 partnership between ASU and Starbucks, will be an additional benefit atop the previously-announced college benefit (also four years, 100% tuition free) that Starbucks extends to every employee who works 20 hours per week or more, which is offered through the online campus of Arizona State University (ASU), an accredited (and generally well-respected) institution, in an approach that has been lauded by the leadership of the U.S. Department of Education.

Starbucks will also now be paying for up to 80 hours per year for service obligations of employees who are active duty or reservists in the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard.

At the same time, Starbucks also announced a variety of other benefits, support, and milestones related to the employment of U.S. veterans, active military reservists and military spouses.

These include two achievement milestones in its provision of services for veterans and their families:

Too little too late . Starbucks counts on the Christian customers to permit them to be as diverse as they want to at their own expense. The majority values of the country should not be subordinated to the call celeb of the day.

Starbucks has announced that they’re changing the cups again. The new cups will be white...and will come with crayons so all these people who are complaining can color them however they want, like the children they are acting like.

I don’t care. I figure it is a good thing. If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. So they chose to say nothing. So what.

Your picture is very self-righteous, but it is not an either/or situation. Still, I say so what that the cups are red. I just do not condemn those who think differently about it. There is no sin in having a different opinion about it.

"If I become president, we're all going to be saying, 'Merry Christmas' again. That I can tell you."

I doubt it. He can't make anyone say anything much less Merry Christmas. Perhaps he meant as President he would no longer be attacking Christians and Christmas. But that is not what he said.

As a Former Barista, Why You Should Ignore the Starbucks Red Cup “Controversy”

November 9, 2015 by

large_Starbucks-Red-Cups-2015

Over the past few years, Starbucks has rolled out their “red cups” right after Halloween to signal the start of the holiday season.  Usually adorned with snowflakes and reindeers, this year the cups were given a makeover in a more sleek all red ombre look.

And somewhere, somehow someone took offense to the change, claiming it was part of the war on Christmas.

And the media RAN with it.  They used one small group’s opinion about the cups and began attributing it to the greater Christian community. The mainstream media and the Left love their outrage machine where they claim the world is ending because any number of tiny people have expressed hurt feelings on social media. So now, they’re taking a tiny fraction of people’s response and attributing it to all conservative Christians.

Do not buy in to the media hype surrounding this story!!  It is just another attempt by the LEFT to make Christians look stupid.

As a former barista, I buy my coffee locally.  (Shout out to Mocha Moose!) I love what Candace Cameron Bure said about the whole “controversy.”

Starbucks War on Christmas? It's a red cup, folks. Until Starbucks puts a baby Jesus or nativity scene on the cup while saying Merry Christmas, then pulls it because they say it’s offensive, let’s talk. I don't remember Starbucks ever being a Christian company, do you? A Santa, a snowflake, some holly, a polar bear, some jingle bells or plain red cup don’t define Christmas for me as a Christian. My relationship with Jesus does. So, I will joyfully sip on my Starbucks coffee, in a plain red cup, and instead of complaining about the lack of decorations, I will lovingly share the good news of Jesus Christ with friends and co-workers or anyone who's willing to engage in conversation. Merry Christmas to all!

Christmas is a celebration of the birth of the Prince of Peace.  So how about we take the media’s attempt to make us all seem crazy and stupid, and turn it in to an opportunity to truly share the love of Christ with our neighbors and communities who are hurting so much this season.

“from diverse ethnic backgrounds who proudly wear our green apron.”

Until they have a majority, it’s all free and gibsmedat. After that it’s mayhem.

The CEO of Starbucks (I cannot remember his name and don’t care to) is desperate to be a ‘player’ and ‘make a difference’ His coffee sucks. If he were to concentrate on just making and selling good coffee, the company would be okay. But right now it seems they are more interested in other things. And that is why I have been into a Starbucks in over two years.

Nice for the Vets. Not so nice for the babies that suffer at the hands of Planned Parenthood. Starbucks is a contributor to Planned Parenthood.
