Opinion: Sorry Trump, "Operation Wetback" Was a National Disgrace
NBC News ^ | November 11, 2015 | Raul A. Reyes

... Although Trump glibly describes "Operation Wetback" as moving undocumented immigrants "waaay south," this program was at best inhumane and at worst horrific. Back then, the government rounded up suspected undocumented immigrants and sent them deep into the Mexican interior, where they were abandoned with next to nothing. The transports across the border were reportedly "indescribable scenes of human misery and tragedy." In one instance, 88 deportees died from heat stroke in the desert. Other deportees were sent to the Mexican Gulf Coast by ship, in vessels described by historians as an "eighteenth century slave ship" or "penal hell ship." ...

RAUL A. REYES is an attorney, journalist, and television commentator in New York City. A third-generation Mexican-American, he writes frequently on issues affecting the Latino community. more

You'd think by now he'd drop the hyphen and just be an American. After three generations, if you don't consider yourself an American, you never will. And these extremists wonder why Americans are upset about the unrelenting waves of anti-American invaders.

Like hell it was. We are set upon by law breaking kooks who think illegally sneaking in here from another country is a noble activity.

It is NOT a big deal to return to your own country. And even to take your “family” and “kids” with you. Duh.

I’m sure Raul Reyes harbors no ill feelings toward Ike’s program. Nah. None.

My parents and grandparents seemed to have thought it worked, quite well. It was one thing they agreed about, regarding Ike ;-)

Yep. Even more amazing than the few of them who understand it are the millions more who don’t. They think they can increase the gimme crowd forever without a reduction in the available dat.

Add one more:

8) Tax remittances to Mexico 90-95%. That’ll give Mexico (the biggest offenders of this invasion) the incentive to govern their northern border if they know they will only receive 5-10% of the remittances their illegal alien citizens send to them. What we collect can go to every state whose schools, hospitals, county jails and others have been impacted by this invasion.

The title of the thread was "Operation Wetback" and the talk was about what Truman did.

I was confused for a moment.

In one instance, 88 deportees died from heat stroke in the desert.

Oddly enough, this is happening with the illegals coming TO the U.S. now, yet the media seems unmoved by that. Just the cost of trying to create a permanent 'Rat majority, I guess.

Actually Raul, You and NBC News are a national disgrace. Op. Wetback was something to be repeated until all of the illegals are gone. Then we can work on getting you liberal POS types in the cages you belong.

Or we can start with you liberal POS types, which is really the best move since without you to protect criminals, they will run home.

Nixon had a button too. The slogan didn't work for him as well though.

Their method of deportation would be more humane than the method of their importation.

It wasn’t a disgrace, what is happening now, with open boarders, and out of control alien criminal activity which claims the lives of thousands of Americans every year, that’s the disgrace. We have both parties to thank for that disgrace, and most of big business as well.
