Sarah Pitluck used to walk her dogs before dawn, among the early risers exercising on Capitol Hill. She now waits until first light, and for the streets to be busier.
It is just one way the young man who robbed her, ripping the smartphone from her hand and scratching her neck, has changed her daily routine — and her life.
Ever since the Oct. 13 robbery just two blocks from her home, the pharmaceutical executive goes to work later and comes home before it gets dark. Lost time at her office is made up at home, on the phone with her overseas staffers and answering e-mails. She drives more often and pairs with others on neighborhood excursions. Her poodle, Lenzi, and Chihuahua mix, Pedro, get walks only during daylight hours.

Hi, I’m waiving in your face an incredibly attractive piece of electronic jewelry, it’s dark outside, I’m alone, tied up with my faux child who I can’t leave, and wearing “come snatch my phone or purse” shoes.

It's outrageous that the anointed ones have to be exposed to the little people's type of environment.
Maybe a federal program can be created to transport free of charge criminals overnight to and from areas away from D.C.
Oh.. and the new program would have to include a guarantee of minimum take with taxpayers making up the difference.

BUT she's totally safe. DC STILL has some of the most restrictive anti-gun laws anywhere (maybe NYC and Chicago are worse, maybe)and everyone knows keeping law abiding citizens form carrying firearms for self defense makes them safer. The liberal logic - the more helpless you are the safer you are. Makes sense doesn't it (if you voted for 0bama). If your IQ is over room temperature gun control seems pretty stupid.
Sounds like she had the phone up and talking on it. Obviously no excuse to get robbed, but I’m amazed at how people walk around with no awareness of what is going on around them while they are CONSTANTLY on their phones. I’m guessing the bad guys are looking for that.
Of course it really amazes me when they cross the street without looking - just yapping along.
As for people walking and talking or texting — through a crowd, crossing streets, and driving — I put them in the moron class of humanity.
Color white is no condition to walk around most of DC either.
0bama should be bursting his buttons with pride over the fact that he and his political and media allies have championed the criminal element to such an extent that the cops are reluctant to even arrest criminals any more.

She should be walking at least one Great Dane and an American Staffordshire Terrier.
What breed? My two teacup love puppies are an 85 lb. Black Lab/Pit cross and a 110 lb. Great Dane.
I was thiking a Rottweiler and a Malinois. A doberman and a German Shepherd would do just as well.
Their ideological spawn has come back upon them.
