I’m not a Ben Carson fan but this is silly. Does anybody think that renowned pediatric neurosurgeon and at the time, ROTC standout, isn’t exactly the kind of material for West Point. He’s obviously bright, and obviously impressed someone and obviously remembers that he could have gone to West Point had he decided to do so.
Let me tell you a personal story. I was in the USN stationed in Turkey and my career counselor strongly suggested I apply for the Academy. I put together an application that met the minimum standards. I debated it for two weeks. I decided not to submit the package. The USN had 10 billets for enlisted to the Academy from NavEur commands that year.
There were 7 successfull applications submitted. All 7 were offered spots. Had I submitted a package, it would have been accepted.
I could have gone to the Naval Academy on full scholarship. Absolutely a true statement. Does the Academy have a record of my application? No, they do not.

I watched the whole thing. He was very good and never lost his cool even after answering the same question over and over by the dolts that kept asking the exact same question. He must have read my many posts that they should answer with where is the Scrutiny of BO!

You do not submit an application for a scholarship to West Point. You are nominated by two Congressmen for a West Point appointment.
