Ben Carson's unusual theory about pyramids ("It's still my belief, yes.")
CBS News ^

NAPLES, Florida -- Ben Carson stood by his long-held belief about ancient pyramids in Egypt, that they were used to store grain, rather than to inter pharaohs.

Asked about this Wednesday, Carson told CBS News, "It's still my belief, yes."

The subject came up when Buzzfeed published a 1998 commencement speech delivered by Carson at Andrews University, a college founded by Seventh-day Adventists.

"My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain," Carson said. "Now all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs' graves. But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it. And I don't think it'd just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain."

I doubt Carson is smarter than Cruz or, for that matter, Trump.

That is too general and doesn’t make sense.

He is smarter than them in some ways and they are smarter than him in some ways.

Carson should stick to medicine.

Yes, but is this serious?

If you recall the story, they had only 7 good years to collect the over-abundance of grain before the 7 years of famine.

Look at the size of the stones in the Great Pyramid and tell us how they built not just that pyramid but all of the others in less than 7 years? Some have calculated there are in the neighborhood of 2.3 million stones in the great pyramid alone.

Hey, sweetie!

Gladys took to heart your kindly suggestion of dose upping— her bewilderment state having increased by a factor of two, she thought she should. But for me, you know, I have always been just fine, no problems with me here. I’m swell, it’s just those other guys. But, I’m fine.

Actually, I’ve been fine since I’ve known me. It’s Gladys.
She can be temperamental, (kind of like Carson) obsessively curious, cranky, occasional outbursts, etc. But, me? I’m fine, no problems here, I’m fine, really, I’ve been fine since I’ve known me, back in ....... (trails off)...

Oh, oh! Poof! ***!!!$# (That rubber wall can sneak up on a girl!) %:/

Did you actually read my post?!?

See....I was trying to tie the very real, very wrong, “theory” of Anthropogenic Global Warming as presented by Obama as a contrast to the very real (to Dr. Carson), yet very wrong, Carson account of the pyramids.

Which one has a monetary; cultural; or generations affect on America?

Absolutely!

But to question the history of Barack Obama, his last speeches, quotes, acquaintances is to be construed as “Raaaaacist” as you are questioning the temerity of a bla....

Ooops. Never mind...

Irony is rich isn’t it?

I guess it would make an interesting debate question:

“Were the pyramids made by Joseph to store grain?”

If Carson becomes the nominee, I suspect he WILL get that question in a presidential debate. Then conservatives will be screwed.

...which must be why there are mummies of Pharaohs within, but no grain.

Carson is certainly on a roll. First not knowing the difference between Fed chair and Secretary of the Treasury and now this. Like his fellow token minority predecessor Herman Cain, this guy is without the first clue on most things and not ready for prime time.

Was Carson referring to the famous pyramids at Giza and elsewhere, which of course are used as tombs, or was he referring to the engineering of pyramid-shaped buildings in general? So, for example:

I did that first. It appears to be a religious view, long on opinion and speculation and short on facts and corroborating evidence. I couldn’t find a single respected Egyptology site that gave any credence to the theory. If you have a link to such a site, I’d be very interested in investigating it.
