A $10K Family Reunion: Marco Rubio's Mysterious Business Expenses Land Him in 2016 Campaign Hot Seat

As Marco Rubio rises in the polls, his financial past is coming back to haunt him - namely two years of credit card transactions from his time as speaker of the Florida House, the details of which remain a mystery.

During the GOP presidential hopeful's 2010 Senate race, the Tampa Bay Times and the Miami Herald obtained his 2006 and 2007 credit card statements, which allegedly showed that he regularly charged personal expenses - including a four-day, $10,000 family reunion and repairs to his family minivan, according to the Times.

The investigation also found he failed to disclose $34,000 in expenses, including $7,000 he paid to himself and $5,700 he paid his wife, Jeanette, as reimbursement for "gas and meals," Politifact reports. (Jeanette was treasurer of one of two political committees he created in order to accept contributions toward his travel and other political expenses.) Plus, Rubio reportedly gave family members an additional $14,000 and racked up $51,000 in travel expenses on his own credit cards.

When asked at the time to release additional records, the Florida senator declined, per the Tampa Bay Times - but now that he's emerging as a top contender for the GOP nomination, he's back in the hot seat.

Now he’s on the airwaves claiming the only debt he has is the mortgage on his house and ignoring everything else in this article.

Rubio as a liar is of the high school level. Third rate for a politician.

But, but, but that GoPee sycophant, Chris Stirewalt on FNC said last night “that this has all been adjudicated!” I’ll bet that Trump has all the dirt he needs here or he would not have spoken up.

Don’t you wish these operatives would notice the MILLIONS that the Clintons launder to themselves every year through their “foundation” or the Obamas merrily squander from us taxpayers on vacations and golf trips. Granted Rubio looks a little negative in this but he is not even spending pocket change compared to the Arkansas and Chicago pros.

Exactly right. The mendacious media turns a blind eye to much bigger transgressions by the Clintons. I’m not a Rubio fan but his finances are trivial stuff. The Clintons spend more in one day than Rubio spends in a year.

This has little bearing on the fact that a Marco Rubio White House would change nothing....Washington/humungus government would continue as the "Establishment" directed.

I do believe a Trump presidency would see a tighter government with an improved Veterans Administration, returning to the laws that govern immigration, laws that govern the National Security, states rights over the Federal Government, Americans first when it comes to jobs. A Trump presidency would go a long way to righting our crippled nation....Rubio is the Establishment; Ben Carson is not well rounded; Ted Cruz is the only other man/woman running who can put the nation right and keep it there, Cruz is the strongest on our Constitution...Trump believes the law is the law...I think he also is strong on our Constitution......that just scares the wheeeeeeee out of the Socialist Left and the RINO Establishment....kinda tickles you doesn't it!
