Could be pilot/copilot sabbatoge. One of them seized controls and maneuvered aircraft in a way that broke it up. The sounds could have been a struggle or stabbing.
But I did hear this aircraft had experienced serious tail damage in a prior incident so mechanical failure remains the most likely cause.
That and the Kenyan

Wasn’t there a Nicholas Sparks novel called ‘The Pilot’s Wife’ where a bomb was hidden in the captain’s flight bag by his mistress, unbeknownst to him?

Years back there was a B747 with a repaired pressure patch in the tail section that failed. Plane disintegrated. It was determined that it was a bad repair job.

More speculation Breaking from RT
The nature of passengers’ injuries from the Russian jet that crashed in Egypt’s Sinai on Saturday may indicate that an explosion took place aboard before the plane hit the ground, an Egyptian doctor who examined the bodies said, Sputnik news agency reported.
"A large number of body parts may indicate that a powerful explosion took place aboard the plane before it hit the ground," an Egyptian forensic expert told the agency.

It was determined that it was a bad repair job. Couldn't be that in this case because it was an Aeroflot plane, known to be always well maintained. ;-D

Definitely no Nanny-cam present...

The JAL crash. US repair crew did a bad job. The tail was found separate from the plane. Just as in this case. Which, unfortunately doesn’t rule out an onboard explosion.

Could be pilot/copilot sabbatoge.
Or it could be sabotage. One or the other. ;-)

Metrojet, not Aeroflot. But I get your point.

It appears as though our gov't has decided that the closely held capabilities of Sbirs isn't worth worrying about. So they said there was a "heat flash", but no "heat plume".
That suggests an explosion in, or from, the aircraft.
Very strange that we would reveal that information, given that a short investigation will answer the questions.
