THX1138, Logan's Run, Rollerball, Soylent Green, 1984 or Fahrenheit 451? Dystopian themed movies.

Six rather relatively well known dystopian themed movies. Excerpts taken from IMDB.

If you like dystopian themed movies you've probably seen all 6. My favorite is Rollerball.

Which one do you think the world is striving for?

---

THX1138 -- Set in the 25th century, the story centers around a man and a woman who rebel against their rigidly controlled society. Director George Lucas.

Logan's Run -- An idyllic sci-fi future has one major drawback: life must end at 30. Director Michael Anderson

Roller Ball (1975) -- In a corporate-controlled future, an ultra-violent sport known as Rollerball represents the world, and one of its powerful athletes is out to defy those who want him out of the game. Director Norman Jewison.

Soylent Green (1973) -- With the world ravaged by the greenhouse effect and overpopulation, an NYPD detective investigates the murder of a CEO with ties to the world's main food supply. Director Richard Fleischer

1984 (1984) -- George Orwell's novel of a totalitarian future society in which a man whose daily work is rewriting history tries to rebel by falling in love. Director Michael Radford

Fahrenheit 451 (1966) -- In an oppressive future, a fireman whose duty is to destroy all books begins to question his task. Director François Truffaut

Idiocracy has become a documentary.

As was "Office Space" . Mike Judge has a hilariously keen view of society.

My favorite apocalyptic, yet hopeful film is "The Postman" which starred Kevin Costner. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Postman_(film) for synopsis.

In one line... drifter's lie of a reconstructed United States inspires the reconstruction of society.

Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury, hands down! All of his books are wonderful.

All are good films - 1984 with John Hurt and Richard Burton is especially disturbing.
THX 1138 originally was the San Francisco phone number of George Lucas. He inserted that number into a few Star Wars films, plus it was the license plate of the yellow deuce coupe in American Graffiti.

There is truth in all of them-—but Brave New World is the one which had little kids romping in the fields indulging in sex with adults gleefully watching and encouraging the actions. Sex Ed is the key—to sexualize very young children to destroy normal sexual identity formation and all future flourishing relationships. They will destroy all identity differences in little children (radical egalitarianism) so they are so irrational they can’t know what male and female is anymore (like in European schools where the kids are not allowed to be called boys or girls anymore and you have mixed restrooms.)—all so Truth/God is eliminated.

With the control of Words-—you can control how and what children “think”. PC is to demean and destroy Christian concepts and the ideas which created the philosophy/theology which led to Individualism and Natural Rights from God. All other cultures were socialistic/peasant cultures-—masses were slaves to a few elite-—goose steppers. That is what the elite, satanists want so they can herd and control us and kill off the useless eaters.

They need to destroy Truth/Reality to make the children SO irrational they will believe “snow is black”. (google Fichte, 1810, “destroy Free Will”, “snow is black”.) That is the German plan which uses psychiatry so they can literally make the Sane-—into the INSANE-—so people will be “happy slaves” for the State.

It all involves drugging and addicting to screens (Ray Bradbury) so people are programmed-—by TV/computer, and pills (all dehumanization). The programming will be by CONTROLLING ALL INFORMATION-— TV/public schools/Computers—removal from a loving mother and father and hard back original books.

All original sources will be altered-—the Bible—Documents—all a word here and there will be easily digitally (e-books) changed to alter the meaning-—the WHOLE CONCEPT will be warped-—they do that in Zinnean text books and have been rotting minds of children with lies and misinformation to create dumb little socialists, communists today.

The government can create “Reality” where the masses will be totally dependent all the State (elite sodomites)-—by controlling ALL systems-—all branches of government (THEY HAVE CONTROLL OF ALL THREE NOW!!!!)

The Giver and The Hunger Games are two other dystopian books——but, the endings give hope with a Revolution-—waking up of the masses.

There will be “drugging” of all the people, like in The Giver (in water or vaccines probably——to control emotions and create apathy and control sexual urges-—like with viagra—because people will be so incapable of any real human emotions——kind of like the kids raised in the Romanian orphanages.

You have to include “Demolition Man” in the list.

“You got that right. You see, according to Cocteau’s plan... I’m the enemy. Because I like to think, I like to read. I’m into freedom of speech, the freedom of choice. I’m the kind of guy who likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder - “Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of BBQ ribs with the side order of gravy fries?” I want high cholesterol. I wanna eat bacon and butter and BUCKETS of cheese, okay? I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section. I wanna run through the streets naked with green Jell-O all over my body reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly might feel the need to, okay, pal? I’ve SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It’s a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing “I’m an Oscar Meyer Wiener.” You live up top, you live Cocteau’s way: what he wants, when he wants, how he wants. Your other choice: come down here... and maybe starve to death.”

Brave New World is an extremely insightful book, but a decent movie version hasn't been done yet, as far as I know.

We don't need to watch dystopian movies. We're living in one.

Well done dystopian movie, and quite prescient: Brazil

I was lucky enough to have seen this on the "big screen" (not a "big screen" TV!) at a theater during the original release.

One of the most visually stunning movies I've ever seen.

It's 1984 as done by Monty Python (quite literally!)

“Equilibrium” also features drugging of people for the sake of safety, plus killing those who won’t take the drugs and become drones.
