Hey all, I certainly wasn't expecting to be posting a vanity like this when this morning started. Mrs. Doomonyou and I moved to Texas a month or two ago fulfilling a five year dream to get out of CA for a red state and God answered big time. We're still getting moved in and the new job is going great. As a result of getting out from behind a desk and out in the field I'm away from a total A hole boss. Anyway, I dumped about 18 pounds just being more active and out of the stress. So two weeks ago I'm starting to feel kind of bloated and full all the time and tired due to having problems falling asleep. I've been eating as much as comes out the backside which isn't Much. This morning I saw my Doc, had blood, urine work and a CT scan. Wasn't sure what to expect.
A blessing last night! Our Son and Daughter snuck in from California on us unannounced last night about eleven! Will be here for a week! A great surprise.

Looks like we finally have some definitive answers based on the tests and the Biopsy results.
What it is is stage 4 Mesothelioma of the abdominal lining, then that spread to the stomach. Inoperable but all my internal organs are clear. Pretty rare apparently to show up like this.
So the game plan is I get the PET scan on Tuesday, then get to go to Chemo class (apparently to find out how to puke. :), Then Probably on wed. I get a port installed for the Chemo, and then start the chemo on Thursday. The oncologist strongly suggests we get a second opinion but wants to get the treatment started asap so we can avoid it spreading, etc. So Lisa is going to Contact MD Anderson and we will talk to those folks and see if they have any newer/better/alternative treatments or solutions to this cancer.
It's great to have the kids here (2 out of three ain't bad), Amy has a family, job, etc. so just couldn't break away like Carter and Charlotte could. So We're gonna run out and just go somewhere this afternoon to get out of the house today. Attitude around here is good, good prayer time, I got a call from my pastor back in Petaluma last night and we talked for an hour or so. Good stuff.
One thing that worries me at this point is the only person who does not know is my Mom. She and a friend have been in Europe for a couple three weeks and are currently on a cruise back to the states. We've traded a few texts back and forth so she's going to call when she hits the US of A. She's planning on visiting here brother in So. Carolina for a few days then flying back home to Petaluma. She's got a connecting flight in Dallas, so I expect she'll hit Dallas and come up and stay with us a couple days or so. Anyway, She'll be calling me on Her Birthday (Nov. 9th). This news is going to devastate her. So please, please pray for my Mom as she hears the news from me.

I’m thankful you and your doctors have a game plan and are explaining everything in detail for you. I pray that what they have for you will kill this monster that has taken up residence in your body.
If you CAN get into MD Anderson, that would be a real blessing. The are THE best!

Ditto on LUV W’s comment on MD Anderson.
I have a close friend who has survived two bouts with the Big C.
Many times when it reoccurs it comes back with a vengeance.
The watchful Docs at MD Anderson were duly vigilant and got her on a prompt (but relatively benign) treatment program on the second bout.
Long story short - now two years later a condition that claims over 90% is in remission and has shrunk to the point of being undetectable on CT, PET or whatever the SOTA scan is these days.
Obviously every case is different, but she not only got good treatment, but she relates that the doctors and staff at MDA were very caring and humane.
Our continued prayers for you, your Mom and family and hoping you can get into MDA ASAP!
I admire the positive attitude you have. It’ll be hard telling all this to your mom but I’ll bet she’s a whole lot stronger than you think. May God bless you, your family and your doctors as you beat this.

Chemo doesn’t always make you throw up. When my husband had chemo, it made him really tired and he had some blood/plasma transfusions that helped a lot.
It messed with his mouth so he used painkilling mouthwash before eating. Eating was a big thing for us because he’d lost so much weight. I always tried to cook really good food for him so he could gain his weight back and fight.
When he was on Tarceva(cancer pill)it made him very runny so he would take generic imodium pills that we bought at dollar tree.
When he just wasn’t into eating I would make him milkshakes or instant breakfast just to keep calories and nutrients going in. He preferred things like that or smoothies over boost and ensure type things-really nasty tasting.
Important thing about food is cook thoroughly and we used a lot of canned fruit because it’s cleaner than fresh raw fruit.
The food must be as clean as possible because the chemo will run down your immune system and because of that try and avoid public places and sick people.

You’ll be given anti-nausea medication along with the chemo. And sometimes it actually works. ;-)

Maintain that great Christian attitude. Christ has your back. Lean hard on your brothers and sisters in Christ and family.
Keep up the great attitude. My experience with surgery and 3000 RADs of radiation was worse than the disease itself. That was 1985. It was worth the misery in hindsight.
