President Obama is directing the Pentagon to send special forces into Syria to advise the Syrian opposition in its fight against ISIS, the White House said today.
The change will station U.S. special operations forces on the ground for the first time in Syria in its fight against the Islamic State after thousands of airstrikes in the past year produced mixed results, although their mission is expected to be primarily advisory.
The change "is consistent with strategy to intensify the battle against ISIS,†a White House senior official told ABC News.

The fight against ISIS?? Obama always calls them “ISIL” even though most others call them ISIS. Surprised a White House official would say ISIS since Obama never uses that terminology.
What a fiasco. Are we going to fight the Russians ? What the Hell are we doing? Obama is so humiliated by the Russians killing Isis he can’t sleep. There is no “syrian free army”. All 5 were killed. Assaad never did a thing to this country.

IIRC, al Nusra is one of our ‘friendly forces’ in Syria with connections to al Qaeda and in opposition to Assad.
A former al Nusrite is al Baghdadi who is the leader of ISIS.

BS. He provided material, logistical, training, resupply, staging and volunteers for Al Qaeda-in-Iraq (AIQ) insurgents up until our departure. He is responsible for hundreds, if not thousands of US casualties.
There would have been no Iraqi insurgency without Assads assistance and support of Sunni insurgents. After we left AIQ morphed into ISIS and set its sights on a global caliphate. Assad sowed the seeds of his own destruction. I have no pity for either. We’ve been aligned against both ISIS and Assad since 2004.

Obama has already fired every competent officer, reduced the troops, instituted gender garbage, so what’s next? What about decimating the best we have by sending too few with incredibly hamstringing rules of engagement into a battlefield.
I have a question. When our troops are killed will they be called combatants?
