Why would Reince Priebus and the GOP Elite Agree to Biased Debate Formats?
self | October 30, 2015 | self

At least for this Presidential election cycle, and also for the last two, the GOP has agreed to debates hosted by unfair moderators who masquerade as "journalists". From Candy "get the transcript" Crowley, to the CNBC debacle October 28, the GOP seems complicit in setting up an unfair playing field. Basicly, the hard, snarky questions are asked the Republicans while the Democrat candidates are served softball questions.

Could it be the GOP is in cahoots the mainstream media and the democrats, and is using the unfair format to decimate the conservatives within their ranks, leading less formidable ( McCain, Romney) Republican winner?

I’ll bet because he’s getting a kickback off the ad revenue from these progressive moderator sponsors - that’s why.

Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence.

Fair point; however, the consistently destructive behavior and condescending attitudes of leftist Democrats and leftist RINOs cannot be "adequately explained" by incompetence. Americans are more and more recognizing that their behavior even goes beyond malice, and into pure unadulterated evil.

I heard someone allude to something along those lines on the radio yesterday. I listen to Rush, Savage, Levin.

“””Doom on Priebus, whose days as RNC chairman are now very numbered indeed””””

Like his predecessor, Michael Steele, RNC Chairman Priebus will soon be an employee/consultant at the leftist MSNBC.

The conservative base of the GOP is getting the shaft more and more from the leftists who have taken over the GOP.

The GOP makes its money by being the opposition party. It doesn’t want the White House because then the voters expect things. They need to be “powerless” (and somehow in their minds, having control of most state houses, governors’ mansions, and Congress is “powerless”). When they are “powerless” they can beg for money and get it.

They are basically the “will work for food” guy on the corner....who won’t work when it is offered. Giving them the WH is like bathing the bum, giving him a shave and haircut, and dressing him in a nice suit. Suddenly, the “homeless vet, please help” sign doesn’t work as well as it did before.

Excellent question. I've been stuck on the question of why was the longest serving Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert, was a pedophile?

So the Clintons go through impeachment and they have all of those FBI files and Gingrich is forced to resign over an extramarital affair, Dennis Hastert is given the job. From what I have gathered the kid Hastert molested wasn't exactly quiet about it and then died of AIDS later.

Apparently Washington politics is just a big stage where the actors aren't necessarily all happy to be there.

Excellent points. These guys are so helplessly blackmailable, corruption is here to stay. They should all be turned out into the street.

What if Conservative Review had an online debate with Hannity, Mark and Rush? If mmainstream wanted to pick it up, they could FOR A FEE that would go to Conservative Review...of which Levin is Editor in Chief. I think the candidates would go for it, the media would have to BUY in and the Republican base would fully support it.

Jake Tapper got an easy ride when he claimed that 24 BILLION people watched the first GOP TV show! Not too bad considering there are about 8 BILLION people on Earth!

When was the Constitution changed to include the pimps of the election industry (the media) in our election screening process?

When some of the other pimps (Tokyo Rove and Charles SOURkrauthammer for example) didn't like the result of the Delaware Primary for the U.S. Senate, they savaged the winner and helped the Democrap win the General Election!

Couple thoughts:

I may be crucified for saying this, but as horrible as the CNBC hit squad was, I think this debate was the candidates’ finest hour as a group. I was proud of most of them. From the get-go they realized that it was going to be a massacre, so they pulled together to present a united front, were complimentary to each other, lambasted the questioners, and weren’t afraid to speak up. For example, I’m not a Rubio fan, but I loved it when he said that Hillary is a liar. I think that in the past, a euphemism for “liar” would’ve been used.

Yesterday Priebus (on Hannity, I think) said that RNC was meeting with all candidates’ organizations to change the schedule for future debates. He’s an idiot. Why would he have scheduled CNN, CNBC, etc., for the first debates, anyhow? I can understand how he might’ve been blindsided by Megyn and Bret on Fox, but the others...? Enough already with consorting with the enemy; find questioners who will draw out valuable information from the candidates.

Per Levin, Priebus and Paul Ryan are best of friends going back to childhood. I guess this isn’t pertinent relative to the debates, but it’s interesting as to Priebus’ possible future positions, etc.

The GOPe desires that the Democrat win the election. It is better for their bottom lines. These "debates" were supposed to eliminate the "dangerous" conservatives. It doesn't matter whether the Gope candidate for the Nomination (not the election) gets trashed, too, because his selection at the end was supposed to be a given. Bush was supposed to be good for a steady 20-30% through the primaries while the conservatives all shot up and flamed out one by one. The debates were to help cut down the more viable among them. It was expected the "moderates" would support the Bush no matter what.
The Gope can still nominate Bush even if he never rises above 10% in most of the primaries so long as he does well in a couple of the commie state primaries.

The democrat party only sets up democrat debates in front of sympathetic fellow traveler moderators, unlike the suicidal GOPe.

Having read 31 posts to this point, the question still remains unanswered, “why is the GOPe setting up ambushes for their own candidates? The speculation, up to this point, has been wildly divergent and I still dont have a clue as to how this can be happening.

It is obvious and beyond doubt that the democrat debate was a staged HRC charade and great care was taken to protect her and the other democrats.

And it is just as obvious that the repub candidates are being held to a much different standard where attacking their individual credibility and merit is the dominant theme.

WHY? WHY? WHY?

Is it shear incompetence or by design? Can they possibly be so clueless, so stupid? If by design, then what exactly are they (GOPe) trying to accomplish?

For the same reason the GOPe didn’t mind the IRS going after the “Tea Party” groups.
