I wanted to post this so everyone who wanted to could see just how bad things are in the Republican Party and in Washington .
As Representative Thomas Massie said last week only five were willing to oppose Boehner on January 6th and yesterday only he and eight others were willing to oppose Paul Ryan.
The nine voted for Daniel Webster of Florida, who actually told his supporters not to vote for him and Webster ended up supporting Ryan. More proof of the phony baloney nature of the "House Freedom Caucus".
The nine are:

Louie Gohmert-Texas
Randy Weber-Texas
Paul Gosar-Arizona
Walter B. Jones-North Carolina
Ted Yoho-Florida

As for the rest who supported Ryan in the GOP (236). I guess we just have a big pile of excrement to clean up.
The "election" (annointment) of Paul Ryno is a cry for TERM LIMITS!
Checked with my social secretary on the spelling of Aisle and Isle a same pronunciation different meaning word that at the moment I could not remember. It should be aisle above as in the other side of the aisle rather than the other side of the island.
Always something to learn while watching folks apparently disregard their oath of office and their loyalty to the C O N S T I T U T I O N rather than Party, People and process.

United in collapsing the United States with ever increasing spending and debt....that’s not something to be united about.
Those words are called homophones. My granddaughter and I are working up a list of them. So far we have close to 100. I’ve picked up a few of them from booboos here on Fr. We already had isle and aisle!
Club for Growth is GOPe disguised as “conservative”.

Their real name should be the 21st Century Rockefeller Republican Club.
I may wax a bit to philosophical about this, but I think the reason why few true conservatives were willing to step into the speaker’s race was that the speaker is, by definition, a moderating position. An individual representative can wield more influence outside the speakership, IMO.
Now, Ryan is no core conservative. He has demonstrated that in the past. However, he does listen to others - and the freedom caucus and its members seem to understand the power they have, as well as some of its limits. Perhaps there is a balance to be had between the new speaker and his party’s most conservative firebrands. We will see.
I wish others had stepped in to run, but they did not. Therefore, the remaining germane question is whether the rest of the house GOP, especially the conservatives, and we the people can steer this new speaker on an acceptable path or not. We can either choose to accept the challenge or we can choose to whine about it. If Ryan proves to be unacceptable, then we have to foment another revolution against the power structure in the house. If he proves to be acceptably steerable, then we have to choose our battles and draw our lines in the sand wisely.
We should also start grooming some of the more conservative members of the house for eventual leadership. Thrusting someone - even a rock-ribbed conservative - into leadership when they are mentally unprepared for it is almost a guarantee of disaster.

As a matter of human courtesy and good will and for the sake of an essential level of trust and cooperation, in public office, you have to respect the people on your side. That does not require one to be blind to their failings or even to like them as individuals. And only fools try to slake their appetite for spite by consuming their futures and the best hopes for their larger cause.
Finding conservatives to run against these corrupt representatives is a big problem for us. Staying a conservative in DC is a big problem for them.

I suspect that Ryan, at least for now, will try to reconcile with his internal opponents. He will also avoid contentious issues with the GOP caucus through the 2016 election, hoping to improve his support and add to his count of seats through an effective campaign operation. How Ryan acts after that will depend on who is President and on the partisan balance in Congress.
Glad to see Randy Weber’s name on the no list. He was our area state rep and is a really great Conservative Christian. Wish we had him for our Congressman instead of Pete Olson. We need to get rid of Pete as well as Cornyn. Both have really huge warchests and lots of support from the Chamber of Commerce.
