Gee, don't "IIRC". Go to Trump's website and read 'em. You'll not thereafter have to fall back on "IIRC".

I mean this in a FRiendly way!!

:-)

The immigration paper in particular is mostly quite good and sensible, and every person on this thread should have read it by now. (That would have forestalled one nasty argument going on, in this thread.)

We also made a point of picking up the best of the German scientists before the Russians could grab them. So far as the H1-B imports are concerned, we may be getting some of the best foreign trained who are highly motivated and smart enough to get in with that program. This makes it hard for our more average graduates to compete. Someone made a point about unfair low pay to the imports, and raising that pay would certainly make the employers think twice about who they hire.

Yes that is SHAMEFUL. Absolutely shameful. He also hawked fake cancer treatments. Scummiest thing any of these people have ever done, and did they ask him about it in any of the debates? No.

I must surmise the media wants him to stay in this race.

Huck gave those people hope bro!

Maybe false hope, but hope. So what if they shelled out cash for this con. They don't need that when they are doomed anyway.

Huck is the true pious. The Jim and Tammy Baker of our time. Getting rich for giving hope is God's work.

Probably not asked because he is at ~ 1%

Not real game.

Liberals on Twitter all lamenting that John Stewart isn’t on the Comedy channel anymore to lampoon this debate for Democrats.

I think there is a lot more trouble with work ethic, when it comes to “American” college graduates, than actual math / tech / science skills. Granted that it still takes a pretty good work ethic, or utter brilliance, to get through most engineering programs.

However, I disagree when it comes to foreign students taking up all the US university capacity. This may be true in the case of some schools, but, nationally, enrollments are down for the last 3 years, even as our population continues to grow.

http://sheeo.org/sites/default/files/project-files/SHEF%20FY%202014-20150410.pdf

(see p. 21)

Some schools are REALLY hurting in terms of enrollment. For example:

And the packages are getting smaller too ... Look at the ounces on a “half gallon” of OJ - it’s no longer a true half gallon ... same for ice cream, frozen fruit juice, frozen veggies, tuna fish, and everything else. The package size / content weight continues to decrease while the prices continue to rise. So the inflation is actually even worse than what we think.

We don’t need to beat a democrat candidate, we need to beat the media. Ted Cruz just showed what needs to be done to win.

Sorry she had cancer, but when a woman puts too much filler and botox in the face so that a natural expression cannot be attained, it is not attractive IMHO.

Actually, some natural aging is attractive. The fear of the inevitable is unattractive.

Plus she is only conservative on a few issues and that makes her immensely displeasing.

I personally, don't want a president that is willing to be divisive, mean, verbally attacking, regardless of whether tey are right or not, there is a better way of making a point, without being a dick about it.

Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue. — Senator Barry Goldwater
In these precarious times we need a President that is willing to stand forward and if necessary eviscerate his opponent. Socialists give no quarter and we must be willing to advance against them on every opportunity.

Playing nice brought us where we are now. Nowadays there is no way to make an effective point without being a dick about it.

Those guys play hard ball in Washington. Did you ever listen to the Nixon tapes? Profanity you could never imagine in the Oval Office. Truman and LBJ too, even the Kennedy clan. Vice President Dick Cheney's told Senator Leahy to "F" himself on the Senate floor. Please hitch up your jeans and wake up to the world today. Comity and political correctness only brings our opponents to fits of laughter. I am sorry that is true because my Dad did not raise me that way but it is that way. Vote Trump in 2016 to save America and make it great again.

There is no need to have a “program” for truly gifted people or to change the number of H-1B’s available. Just make employers pay foreign workers they bring in a 20% premium over prevailing wages being paid to US born workers in similar jobs. (Also make sure the employers can’t cheat on the wages.) If the above is enforced, the problem will self-correct.

At present, big employers cheat, and the gov’t looks the other way - a perfect example of crony capitalism.

It’d be nice if Trump’s position paper said something about enforcement: As another FReeper has pointed out, current law requires that wages paid to H-1B employees should be comparable to “prevailing wage”, but, this is not meaningfully enforced. I’ve been an indirect victim of the results of this, myself.
