Ted Cruz: ‘Meaningful Concessions’ Republican Leadership Should Receive in Debt Ceiling Fight

Sen. Ted Cruz talks about the Debt Ceiling (video)

Sen. Ted Cruz says Republican leadership should make sure it receives “meaningful concessions” in the upcoming fight over raising the debt ceiling. But he’s not holding his breath.

“Unfortunately, Republican leadership approaches every battle preemptively surrendering saying we can get nothing,” Cruz tells The Daily Signal.

The deadline to raise the debt ceiling is Nov. 3. President Barack Obama says he won’t negotiate on this issue but Cruz says that isn’t the history of debt ceiling fights.

“The last 55 times Congress has raised the debt ceiling it has attached meaningful concessions 28 times.”

Cruz would like to see Republican Senate leadership get a few items in return. His list includes making sure Planned Parenthood doesn’t receive $500 million in taxpayer dollars and that Iran doesn’t receive a dime of funding under the current nuclear weapons deal with the U.S.

He also wants to find a way to incorporate Sen. Pat Toomey’s bill into the mix. It states that if the debt ceiling does not get raised, the U.S. government will still make sure its debts get paid and not default in any way. However, what Cruz wants and what GOP Senate and House leadership actually pursue have, so far at least, been at odds with each other.

Cruz wants to see his leadership fight like the Democratic Party.

“Obama and the Democrats approach everything passionately committed to their principles. They’ll crawl over broken glass with a knife between their teeth to advance their failed big government principles.”

“Unfortunately, Republican leadership approaches every battle preemptively surrendering saying we can get nothing,” Cruz tells The Daily Signal.

This is it in a nutshell. If they were to fight and lose, it'd be one thing, but the constant capitulation is unacceptable.

Sen. Ted Cruz says Republican leadership should make sure it receives “meaningful concessions” in the upcoming fight over raising the debt ceiling.

Dinner parties, luxury box seat to Redskins' games, huge campaign contributions and finally permanent K Street jobs. The Republican leadership has received their "meaningful concessions".

Until Republicans shut down the government, the American people will have no respect for them.

Refusing to raise the debt ceiling doesn’t need any concessions. Just refuse to raise the debt ceiling. What is Hussein going to do, refuse to fund the military? He is already doing that.

this is from cotton1706 but I could not of said it better:

Obama hasn’t signed a single appropriations bill since he was sworn in. Continuing resolution after continuing resolution. Mission accomplished...the checks and balances of republican government thwarted. The legislative powers moved to the presidency. Well planned by Obama, Schumer, Reid & co. with their willing accomplices, John Boehner and Mitch McConnell.

“Obama and the Democrats approach everything passionately committed to their principles....”

principles? Wrong word. The Democrats haven’t any.

I’d change that to: “Obama and the Democrats approach everything passionately committed to their Socialist perspectives, or to their insanity.......”

Regardless he’s correct about them approaching with passion, and commitment.

Debt slavery OR WORSE for us, our kids, our grandkids, their grandkids, etc., etc….as far as the mind can think…from those who lord over us.

Let’s see…how much have they stolen from us…

http://www.usdebtclock.org

End of Oct 26, 2015 $18,421,447,648,201+
9:18a Oct 25, 2015 $18,418,442,257,846+

WOW! They’ve ripped us off for another 3 BILLION in just over 39 hours and NOBODY IN CONgre$$ is in prison yet?

6. But the grand nostrum will be a public debt...

7. It must not be forgotten that the members of the legislative body are to have a deep stake in the game. This is an essential point, and happily is attended with no difficulty. A sufficient number, properly disposed, can alternately legislate and speculate, and speculate and legislate, and buy and sell, and sell and buy, until a due portion of the property of their constituents has passed into their hands…

8. (4) A great debt will require great taxes; great taxes, many taxgatherers and other officers; and all officers are auxiliaries of power.

11. As soon as sufficient progress in the intended change shall have been made, and the public mind duly prepared according to the rules already laid down, it will be proper to venture on another and a bolder step toward a removal of the constitutional landmarks.

I’ve never seen that debt clock web page before. Man that’s eye opening, and not in a good way.

The surrender monkeys of the Republican leadership are lined up swinging by their tails ready to give Obucketocrap whatever he wants.

I am sure the monkeys have had it worked out for months, behind closed doors, with Dear Leader.
