Kasich: I Brought Ford Jobs Back, Not Trump
NEWSMAX ^ | 10-26-2015 | Greg Richter

GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump claimed credit Sunday for Ford Motor Company's plans to move a production plant from Mexico to Ohio.

Trump has been calling out Ford during his campaign, saying the automaker plans to move jobs from Michigan to Mexico, but Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who also is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, says the move from Mexico to Ohio had nothing to Trump's demands. "The truth is that Ford began moving jobs back to Ohio four years ago under the leadership of Governor John Kasich," the governor's campaign said in a statement to the press on Sunday night.

"Our country needs real leadership and not empty, false rhetoric," Kasich said. "Working as a team, we brought Ford production jobs back from Mexico to Ohio years ago. That's how things really get done. Hard work and teamwork brings results for the people."

When Kasich announced Ford was bringing the jobs to Ohio in 2011 the vice president of Ford North America Manufacturing said it was "enabled by the Governor and his strong leadership," the campaign noted.

Absolutely. I wanna see Kasich wrestle Trump over this to the mat. Kasich buried the story of his big “get”, while Trump has OWNED the hammer on FORD for now months.

Kasich spills it now. LOL!

Swan dive.

Kasich is a snake...the way he bypassed the state legislators to expand Medicaid.

We’re going to be paying for that “act of kindness” soon.

I don’t think that the Ohio governor has a high enough percentage to be in the next debate. I have heard this story about Ford numerous times from Trump at his rallies.

Ok, let’s say Kasich’s right. Why hasn’t he campaigned on it? Why hasn’t he jumped in when Trump was talking about Ford going to Mexico and say, “Hey, I already did that”

Maybe I’m just cynical but this whole thing is strange. Maybe Kasich’s just brilliant and waited to bring this out but the guy never struck me as brilliant. I’m thinking this the GOPe trying to take the issue. And Trump is the ONLY one who has made jobs an issue up til now.

Trump takes credit for leveraging a 2015 decision.
Kasich points to a 2011 success.

The two situations are not mutually exclusive...

Kasich is where the establishment will be going after Jeb drops out. This is the opening salvo.

“Then why wasn’t Kasich trumpeting this months ago, when Trump first put this issue into his talk track?”

“When Kasich announced Ford was bringing the jobs to Ohio in 2011...”

He announced it in 2011. Trump would take the credit for a flower blooming. His ego doesn’t live in reality.

Kasich is also responsible for the last balanced budget this country had. Nothing but red since he left the US House. When he became governor of Ohio, they were in the red and now they have a surplus. I lived through the time he was in the House and he was a hard worker getting done what needed to be done. I have immense respect for him. I really hated it when he left the House.

You aren’t being too cynical. Kasich was the back-up plan in case Bush failed.

You are correct...I did like Kasich when he was in the House. Much less as a GOP Presidential candidate, however.

I can hear Trump now. Our First Victory! Then that higher pitched screechy voice as he leans forward on the podium “ ... and I’m not even Elected yet”. “Just imagine how amazing it will be when i’m elected”.

We ain’t gonna have a surplus in Ohio for long...

When Kasich’s Medicaid expansion kicks in, the budget will go through the roof.

But that’s OK. Johnny won’t be around. He’ll have a high paying job as a consultant somewhere warm.

What facts? Crap from Red State? Ford could have been talking to Mexico & Ohio. Ford was moving towards Mexico then heat was put on them by Trump! Kasich/Ford talks that saw NO movement since 2011??

Kasich may have been “handcuffed” because he was directly involved in the negotiations. If Trump had known this and why he picked that story, then Kudos to his shrewdness.

But it’s sure hard to draw that very visible line between Trump and Ford staying. It will go over well with the Unions.

The way I remember it, Ford was going to just build a few truck parts here in Ohio, and I think that was Kasich’s doing. However, there was never anything in the news about Ford abandoning their idea of building a plant in Mexico. I’ll see if I can dig up the old article.

A snake is right. Get lost John, you and your most avid supporter—RINO Hugh Hewitt and only because you are from the same state as the RINO Hewitt. It is painful listening to an interview with you; all the hesitation markers, the slow thought, the endless verbigeration—enough!! I guess your interpretation of the Bible would be all of us going broke for the benefit of illegals. Do I have that right? Go away, your candidacy is a joke and futile.

I tend to take Kasich's word for it much more than I do that Clinton democrat Trump.

But I'm voting for Cruz, anyway.
