Jeb Bush is entering a critical phase of his Republican presidential campaign, with top donors warning that the former Florida governor needs to demonstrate growth in the polls over the next month or face serious defections among supporters.
Bush “needs to get his favorables up,” said a senior GOP bundler who is backing him and requested anonymity to speak candidly.
“People are looking at the stage and saying: ‘Jeb and Marco? I’m going with the new,’ ” said a top party fundraiser not aligned with a campaign. “You’re seeing people really gravitate to [Rubio] and saying, ‘Okay, we’ll buck the Bush machine.’
“What I hear everywhere when you say Jeb’s name is, ‘If you want to lose the general election, nominate Jeb,’ ” the fundraiser added.

Exactly my thoughts. And you have to wonder why these “big money bundlers” couldn’t get it through their heads instantly — and certainly before dispensing the cash — that a third Bush was ridiculous.
The only thing I can think of is they were counting on “name recognition” by the REALLY low-information voter.

Yes, and his Mom even said it over a year ago. However, the elites, RINO party,uniparty, whatever we want to call these powerbrokers, must have been very confident they could do this. THis tells us how far down they think this land has fallen. What is most astonishing is that this is common sense to know you could not be elected after your father and brother were. So, another strike against Jeb, lack of common sense. What lacks common sense even more is shoving the illegal immigration debate and ‘acts of love’ in the voters’ faces. That is like a ‘let em eat cake’ moment.
What’s the point? At this point in time, people have made up their minds.
Jeb doesn’t really need to put himself through further humiliation.
Now they will waste another $100 Million on Rubio. Same result.

Very well said Republican Wildcat. Jeb should have listened to his mother. When she said "No more Bushes" she was being practical as well as political. Another Bush at this time was a no brainer. Barbara Bush is probably the most astute politician in the family.

They really wanted Jeb in the race to elect Hillary.
Now they’ll work on stopping Trump to elect Hillary.
That was their plan all along.
I think we know what Barbara said. You probably know what she said, when she did not want him to run. She must have put the word curse jinx on his whole campaign, actually.
She said, “Jeb will inherit all of our enemies, and only half of our friends.”. That is true. At that level of society, you can’t even know who your friends really are.
