Video: George W Bush: "Arab Americans are racially profiled... we need to do something about that"
Youtube ^ | 10/11/2000 | CNN Presidential Debate

Posted on 10/20/2015 8:34:06 AM PDT by I Hired Craig Livingstone

11 Months before September 11:

Secondly, there is other forms of racial profiling that goes on in America. Arab-Americans are racially profiled in what is called secret evidence. People are stopped, and we have to do something about that. My friend, Senator Spencer Abraham of Michigan, is pushing a law to make sure that Arab-Americans are treated with respect. So racial profiling isn’t just an issue at local police forces. It’s an issue throughout our society. And as we become a diverse society, we’re going to have to deal with it more and more. I believe, though — I believe, as sure as I’m sitting here, that most Americans really care. They’re tolerant people. They’re good, tolerant people. It’s the very few that create most of the crises, and we just have to find them and deal with them.

“Jebbie and the entire Bush clan are going to regret bringing this whole thing up.”

I certainly hope so!

In principle, I guess. But now on Medicare, I find that those drugs and costs are definitely not free. It will even get you a penalty on top of Part B penalties if you make too much money.

Frankly, I don’t see what good that law does at all. I guess all that is for poor people.

“”George W. Bush was an absolute failure as president and I regret ever having voted for him.”
I tried by best to warn everyone back in 1999 and 2000. Empty Suit, not conservative at all. Steve Forbes would have been a much better choice.”

GWB was just one of “the latest $hit sandwiches” in a long line of $hit sandwiches that the GOPe has “ served up.” I just hope the Republican “sheep,” with the help of men like Trump, Carson, and Cruz, have finally figured it out just how badly they’ve been played.

So, the lack of profiling of “Arab Americans” prepared the way for the terrorist attacks. The government deliberately paid no attention to “Arab Americans” as they plotted to murder innocents.

Again, PC kills.

“I tried by best to warn everyone back in 1999 and 2000. Empty Suit, not conservative at all. Steve Forbes would have been a much better choice.”

Forbes would not have beaten Al Gore and we would be in serious serious trouble as a nation of he’d won. Hard to believe we’d be worse than now, but we would.

I don’t like revisionist history.

Things have changed a lot since 2000 and since 2008. At the time Bush was the best thing we had.

Since then we know a lot more. The differences within the Republican and conservative populace has become a lot more clear. It’s an evolution that has occurred. And we are better for it.

We can’t judge things from today’s perspective that are Pre-Tea Party and 2010 before the lines were drawn more clearly and the divide became greater.

It goes both ways. We ought not condemn Bush like deranged liberals of the 00’s today but we are under no obligation to respect his opinion’s in 2015 which we know are ossified and wrong.

Though we cannot afford to throw the doors wide open or keep them open, I have NO PROBLEM with Arab CHRISTIANS!

My late Lebanese Christian brother-in-law’s grandfather moved the entire family to the Caribbean from the Beruit area in the mid-1930s when the muslim persecution of Christians there became intolerable and the growing violence between the muslims and Christians threatened to spill into the family. (My brother-in-law became a respected cardiovascular surgeon who loved America and contributed greatly to this country and its citizens. He also had a highly unflattering term for the so-called “Palestinians” which PC prohibits me from repeating here.)

But, as we all know now, islam is the “religion of peace.”

What most folks fail to understand is that there are several definitions of “peace.”
One is the absence of war or conflict. The other is absence of RESISTANCE TO MY IDEOLOGY, THEOLOGY OR WAY OF DOING THINGS – the “peace” of the grave.

The muslims – just like Obama — have thoroughly embraced the latter definition.

Some people don’t seem to notice this was said before 911 in 2000.

Prior to 911 it seemed that Muslims were on our side and could be a valuable bloc in the conservative base due to what seemed to be their social conservatism.

It seemed they were social conservatives, believed in marriage, were pro-life and anti homosexual agenda. It seemed they would be allies against the left and liberalism.

That was obviously wrong. It took 911 to show it. Not the attack itself, but the reaction to it and how their interest overall was more to combat anti-Islamism and anti-Jihad than combat Islamic terrorism and fascism.

And later even more overt support for and actual terrorist involvement and actions began.

Looking back from what we know now, it was always wishful thinking.

There is absolutely NO WAY to make any human being treat another with respect. Certainly not by passing a law. This seems to explain why Abraham is no longer in the Senate and Bush is increasingly seen as a failed POTUS.

Let me explain logical law enforcement.

Group A commits 10% of terrorists acts.
Group B commits 90% of the terrorist acts.

Logic demands we put 90% of our law enforcement efforts on group B. The fact group B may be a certain ethnic or religious group is irrelevant.

Knees jerking so hard around here, we need our own FR Othopedist.

I recall this time well, the muslim - american vote was instrumental in getting W elected as I recall. At the time this was said, I have no problem with it.

After 9/11, yeah, would be MUCH different.
