His own security is probably just as good as SS and certainly more trustworthy.
And I think there is a mechanism under which he can apply for SS protection.

Yep. I was thinking the same thing too. I can guarantee that Trump has thought of that too. Trump is probably weighing his options.
Trump spoke with the FBI and NYPD after El Chapo put a $100 mil bounty on his head and they encouraged him to beef up security.
From what I have read, he has taken their advice.

With all the scandals by the Secret Service in recent years, Mr. Trump would probably be better off using his vast resources to increase his own private security.
I’m not sure I would trust a Secret Service under the control of Obama and the corrupt “Justice” (Just Us) Department.

My thoughts precisely. There’s lots of people heavily ‘invested’ in the current financing scheme that is DC. Lots of little hoglets afraid of being removed from the teat.
Why would you trust the SS. By now it must be absolutely crippled by affirmative action and cronyism. Would he not be better off using a private security operation with other layers of vetting on top of that. Being in an international business he has to have employed some serious operators.
Lots of SS agents standing in line for this gig.

Sounds like through conversations his campaign has made a request for protection and waiting on an answer....but just not a “formal” request. Guess a request “in writing” is required, even though death threats were received!
