I heard the food wasn’t even made out of real mexicans
Wow.
I can’t even imagine this. Both here in Texas and in California, Mexican food is everywhere.
Everywhere.
It used to be that depictions of a Mexican taking a siesta under a sombrero, leaning on a cactus violated PC. Now it’s the sombrero itself? If you visit Mexico you’ll see that Mexicans love sombreros!
Just look around and you see all the Mexican food joints proudly advertising in a Mexican motif. Nobody complains. They do a brisk business.
But anything associated with a university — has to have its mind so open that its brains fall out. Maybe the problem was that they never consulted with a genuine Mexican to do it in exactly the orthodox way. /Sardonic
As an American Italian, tomorrow we’re having Pasta Night at the local Italian club in honor of Columbus Day.
Yeah, we’re pretty much up in arms (sarc/)
They should spread the word south of the border, advertising Mexican food with a sombrero is offensive. I don’t think people know this in Mexico yet.
But you are genuine Italians (assumedly).
What if those who were not genuine Italians dared to do it?
So does this mean next time I go to Baja Fresh I should tell the people behind the counter to take off their Sombreros and show some damn respect
Life DOES revolve around God, however.
Without that all you have is proud righties vs. proud lefties, and pride wins the day.
Both port and starboard sides of the ship to hell arrive there.
The issue here, I believe, is that it’s a university. That is an unbearable stifling chamber of PC today (even though by rights it ought to be one of the most free speech zones in the world, i.e. offended students would have a moral basis only to express their protests before a candid campus, which likely would not care).
Chipotle is a business of its own. So is Taco Bell, etc.
Mexican food is mexican food. If it is offensive on campus it should be offensive everywhere. Following their train of liberal thought ...then so are mexicans, no?
Damn almost forty years ago when I went to Cal State Long Beach there was a Mexican plate served in the place they used to call a cafeteria and no one bitched . It was cheap and popular, just like the girls in Tij.............sorry, my bad! And there was real segregation played out in the student union, good luck getting a ping pong table from the Asians, the Blacks had all the Bowling lanes, the Hispanics took the Arcade games and the White boys had to settle for the Board games
Oh, they were not FAIR in how they depicted Mexicans.
The problem was the university, long trained since the days of protests and sit-ins, just capitulated groveling rather than saying okay, let’s all make our cases and see where this goes.
Who are these students who complained? Why are they controlling what everyone else gets to do? Clemson should have sent them off campus to get a hamburger and told them to come back when they pulled their heads out of their arses.
Except for Mariachi bands I don’t remember ever seeing a Mexican wearing a sombrero.
The test of if it was offense should not be the sombrero but if the food really was Mexican food or something akin to Taco Bell.
When will we see somebody with courage tell the whining fascists to buzz off?
