Carson: 'I Would Establish a No-Fly Zone' Along Turkish Border
Newsmax ^ | 10/8/15 | Bill Hoffmann

Dr. Ben Carson has joined the growing chorus of outrage over Russian President Vladimir Putin's military muscle flexing, telling Newsmax TV a no-fly zone should be created along the Turkish border.

A sophisticated missile defense system should also be put in place to keep Russia's fighter jets in check, according to Carson, a retired pediatric neurosurgeon seeking the 2016 GOP presidential nomination.

"Vladimir Putin has expansionist ideas. He wants to really re-establish a worldwide Soviet influence," Carson told Newsmax TV's Steve Malzberg in an interview aired Thursday.

"He was very unhappy with the dissolution [of the Soviet Union]. Now he's looking for weakness. What we need to do is demonstrate that there is no weakness there."

And that means putting the kibosh on Russia's bullying of surrounding nations, he believes.

"We need to stand our ground with the airspace. I would establish a no-fly zone along the border with Turkey, in no way would I back off," Carson said.

I think I trust Putin more than I trust Erdogan.

We should have left the buffer troops in Iraq.

We should have targeted ISIS and wiped them out.

We should never have become involved in Syria.

We should involve ourselves overseas at times.

Iraq was one such time. We had it won, and Obama gave it all away.

In nature, vacuums will be filled.

The region around Syria and Iraq became a vacuum because the U. S. refused to clean things up.

In walks Russia, to fill the void.

We need to take a long hard look at that dynamic, because if we are not careful, that is the future of our world.

I do not want proxy Russian and Chinese states around the world. We will see them on every every continent including the Americas in time.

The world is too small to stand by and watch something like ISIS play out and not take action.

As for Syria, I’m not convinced the uprising wasn’t part of the Muslim Brotherhood’s actions. Syria was just one more nation whose leadership they wanted to topple IMO.

Removing Assad wasn’t a good idea. I think we picked the wrong side. Terrorists are terrorists are terrorists.

NONE of them are moderate.

To the extent a “no fly zone” is common parlance, I guess one needs to declare one somewhere, right?

Meanwhile, the Russians will enforce a no fly zone and leave the back door open. Corral, drive and finally stampede ISIL right into Jordan. Historically part of “...the Levant”.

Welcome to the Shiite PERSIAN Spring.

“Iraq was one such time. We had it won, and Obama gave it all away.”

No, George Bush gave it away when he allowed Democrats and Code Pink to call the shots. Which history clearly shows happened. Barry just continued it and finished the job. That mistake set in motion the events we see today. Which is why we have no business there. We should have nuked them and been done with it.

We have no business on that side of the world unless you want America to be an Imperial force.

As long as it goes no further in than the actual Turkish border than that`s up to Turkish government, if it does, it` an illegal intrusion into a sovereign nation`s territory.

You and about 5 others think so. Most don’t. I’m good with it.

Every part of the world is our part of the world.

It’s either our part or it’s Russia’s and China’s part.

I opt for “ours”.

So you stand in opposition to the words of the founders. So be it.

He probably relies on general quarters as his adviser.

I've heard he has breakfast every day with General Mills.

Norm, if you know your history, you know our founders became involved on the North of Africa.

The world is a very small place today, and we have to be alert.

We simply cannot be a recessive home body as a nation.

“a no-fly zone should be created along the Turkish border.
Say, didn’t Trump already suggest that?”

Carson is PAYING ATTENTION...

The Turkish “Safe Zone” is THE supply route/oil sales route for ISIS.

When the Kurds were just about to close the ISIS off from that border, the Turks attacked them, and established it.

Check the news today

The Turkish government is blaming ISIS for yesterday’s bombing of a Kurd support rally that killed 120 and injured hundreds

So what are they doing today?

Pounding kurds in northern Iraq (who are some of the fiercest fighters against ISIS) and in their own country Turkey (any human rights observers onhand?)

Erdogan seems like a nut. And this is our ally vs Assad?

“Russian made plane”

No confirmation by either side if it was a Syrian MiG 29 and if so, who was the pilot
