Don’t do it, Paul Ryan
Washington Post ^ | 10/11/2015 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 10/11/2015 6:21:30 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

The worst job in the world, it turns out, isn’t the U.S. presidency but speaker of the House of Representatives.

“It’s where you go to die,” as one veteran Hill watcher put it to me.

Volunteers?

In the wake of Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) sudden withdrawal from his once-certain ascent to the speakership, several others are considering running for the job.

McCarthy’s fall wasn’t only owing to his verbal blunder suggesting that the House select committee investigating Benghazi was primarily created to bring down Hillary Clinton. Like Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), he was shafted by the three dozen or so members of the Freedom Caucus who promised a bloc vote in exchange for public pledges, which McCarthy (to his credit) refused to make.

He simply didn’t have enough votes.

By Friday, the hands-down favorite to take the spot was Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who vehemently has said he doesn’t want the job. Indeed, who in his or her right mind would want to walk into this seething ring of “winning” losers?

By Friday afternoon, a dogged Ryan was moving from an absolute “no” to “possibly considering.” He left the Capitol pursued by a swarm of reporters and photographers as if he’d just emerged from an intergalactic chrysalis bearing greetings from the Supreme Being instead of heading home to talk things over with his wife.

Pelosi didn’t die there. Only Speakers who refuse to support their constituency die there. But then, in Ryan’s case, that might be the situation if this damn fool becomes Speaker.

While the job appears to have its challenges, ryan is a loser rino who shouldn’t get it. We need a hard-charging Conservative to kick some collective arse.

Paul Ryan is no better than what we have just gotten rid of...McCarthy was no better than what we just got rid of...and the list keeps growing....

Anyone who is good and decent will have a hard time getting the gavel...the RINOs have a very tight hold on the House, as with the Senate....

“It’s where you go to die,”

Nancy, we’re waiting. With baited glee.

We all want to find your grave and take bodacious Obamas on it.

Do it.

Now.

Pelosi's career ended there. Ryan still has eyes on the prize and wants to be president. Being Speaker will end those dreams. That's why I really don't think he'll do it.

Here is the crux of the matter in all things elite:

They’ve booted two of their membership’s top three fundraisers with Boehner and former majority leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), who lost his seat last year to a tea party candidate, and now have rejected the third, McCarthy. Not only have these three brought in the biggest hauls through their campaigns and super PACs but they’ve also been the most generous — including to those who now smite them.

It is ALL about money and power for them. No ideology, conservative or otherwise, except to firmly ensconce themselves in the embalmed corpse of the country club of DC (I call DCisneyland) - and its politics and policies that rape us all. It's just plain old money and special interests. [And curiously, they writhe in anger about how somebody like Trump, can STILL be in the race and spend so little money - beholding to no one except those who share his disgust of the state this country has become.]

Their failings aside - big, big ones in fact, they are adamant in their derision of three dozen or so patriots who stand against the tsunami of appeasement, excess and capitulation at every turn. Damn them. Damn them all to hell

"Yong Guns" = new version of Boehner's Pro-Amnesty Establishment...

Two are gone - the third needs to leave.

How can her career have died there? If the Dems take over they will stick her in there again. It’s a pretty powerful position and she could never go higher anyway. Boehner screwed up because he didn’t serve his constituency, but served the other side. Again, powerful position and he was incapable of going higher. Ryan will never be President. His performance on the campaign trail and in one debate indicates he will never be ready for prime time. I just hope to God his vanity keeps him accepting the slot.

So true, the Democrat speakers are much more successful because they are committed to their cause. The GOP speakers are unfaithful, like the “unfaithful electors” of the electoral college. Ryan will be as bad as Boehner. A Badger or a Buckeye???

Shafted? Kathleen Parker needs shafted.

This dumb bitch has no clue what is going on in the Country, which is the reason, the current house is in turmoil.

We sent them there for change, and so far, because of house leader reluctance and senate weakness in using the nuclear option, nothing is being done, and the people are pissed.

I am proud to have played a small role in taking out the weasel Eric Cantor. He was about to betray us and pass Rubio’s amnesty bill after his primary. We took him out and ended that threat.

Wake up America and Cantorize your weasel!

Being Speaker means that's as high as he will ever go. Being Speaker will mean that he can rule out any future run for the White House. Ryan is too ambitious for that.

Yup. There really is nothing stupider than an establishment Republican. The most basic stuff about politics and elections is way, way, way, way over there heads.

I will take the #$%# job. Give it to me.

If you are not elected, do you get the 170,000 plus ridiculous salary and golden retirement package the rest of the “representatives” get?

Ummmmm..... no. She is still the Democrats leader in the House, no? Why? Because she hard core carried out the wishes of even the most left wing of Democratic voters. Boehner on the other hand, spent his time going against every single wish of the Republican voters and acted exactly like Nancy Pelosi.
