Yet this is still in breaking news since last night.
Has there even been a single credible confirmation of this anywhere?
This will get out of hand. We will be lucky to live through it.
where is the sik-e-tah fleet (as Khaddafi used to call him)?
If this were true it would serve the Russians to confirm they had a plane shot down. It would slam the ball back in Obama’s court and put the West on notice to expect a measured response. I just hope it was a Turkish pilot and not one of our guys.
It does not matter who the other party is, a toe to toe with Russia has been in the queue since they invaded Georgia back in the 1920s..
On the other hand, that is how my family ended up in the US.
A confrontation of the last man standing kind has been inevitable for nearly 100 years now..
Just sayin....that it is what it is. I also think that in view of the fact that Obama does not consider history when he makes foreign policy decisions, it would not surprise me if he forces all our former foes into a axis that openly and without warning, launches a full out assault against the US and any one else who stands in the way.
The only foreign policy that has kept the dogs of war leashed was our military advantages and our no holds barred foreign policy approach.
Obama apparently thought all that saber rattling was just silly man stuff...
Turkey is a member of NATO. Any attack by Russia on Turkey would be considered an attack on NATO.
This may have been NATO’s way of dealing with Putin. Back him into a box he dare not rip out of and force him to back down away from using his forces anywhere near Turkey.
But it is a dangerous gambit. Putin may not back down.
Several days ago another Russian jet violated Turkey’s air space and Turkey warned them to back off. Turkey is not a push over...they are very well armed, very well trained, and they will fight.
They have about 235 of the latest F-16 aircraft armed with the latest AIM-120 AMRAAM and IM-9 Sidewinder missiles. They also have their own AWASC aircraft. not to mention the availability of whatever US aircraft necessary from Incerlik Air BAse.
I’m not buying it. Where are confirmations? Would this not be breaking everywhere by now?
No sale.
If true, the international media as well as the local social media in that area would have been tamped down..
It won’t stop the news flow for very long, but it would do it for 24-48 hours..
Since Obama took the reigns of US foreign policy, there has been a rift between NATO and the US that at least I could see.
NATO has been playing the Russians correctly in my view..Obama has been ignoring history and ignoring common sense and has taken a entirely confused and impotent road.
It is that weakness in the lines that has led to what you see today and it can only lead to two results, Capitulation to Russia to delay the inevitable or directly to the inevitable.
Ageed. No sale here either.
While I cannot totally discount it, (as it was based on a large explosion report) the previous incursions into Turkey by Russian jets gives the story a degree of credibility.
None the less, it could have been a bomb, but I don’t think there was a attack to substantiate it, or at least no news of one.
Gonna have to wait this out for a few more hours..
We need to let it go. I want Russia to take out ISIS, and as others have said we’d be on the wrong side to defend that maker of martyrs.
Well...it is Saturday.
Russia is not going to take out ISIS.
What they are going to do is take out any resistance to Assad. If ISIS is in the way...then so it is...but that is just regarding Syria...
In Iraq Russia appears to be working with Iraqi government. The Iraqi government has been working with Iran. What will and is going to occur there is that any US or NATO forces will be pushed out, and the Russians will protect the Shia part of the Iraqi government which would pit them against any other group the they find to be in opposition, which means the Kurds, or anyone getting in the way of Iran’s new territory.
Any Sunni’s will become refugees and likely pushed into the arms of ISIS.
I am not sure how the Saudi’s will react to all this, but it is not going to be good. Then you also have the Turks,,,and all the various “stans”.....
Since we left Afghanistan, it seems likely to me that it will once again become a haven..
It’s difficult to fight there from the air unless you just want to bounce some rocks..
BTW, ISIS has little to do with any of this except as it relates to the Iranians needs and desires..as well as Assad’s immediate needs..
Russia is involved with strategic long tern goals. Those goals all conflict with ours..and always have.
