Ben Carson Is Right: Yes, Jews Should Have Had Guns In The Holocaust
Breitbart.com ^ | October 9, 2015 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 10/09/2015 1:54:29 PM PDT by Biggirl

On Thursday, Republican 2016 presidential contender Dr. Ben Carson stated on CNN that the Holocaust would have been less likely had Jews been armed. In his new book, A Perfect Union, Carson contends, “Through a combination of removing guns and disseminating propaganda, the Nazis were able to carry out their evil intentions with relatively little resistance.”

That’s what I say.

Of course it would have been better.

How can anyone think otherwise?

Everyone should have had guns in the days of Hitler. Finland did pretty well against Stalin and Hitler, because they fought universally against the would-be conquerors. And Switzerland managed to stay alive between Hitler and Mussolini because they had their mountains, but also because everyone had guns and knew how to use them.

The Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising started with a handful of pistols, and held off the Nazis for months, when all of Poland basically fell in 3 days.

So, yes, Dr Carson is correct, as already proven by history.

I guess big government types will side even with Nazis (the ultimate Big Government) over an armed citizenry.

It also appealed to both sides to have bankers who were neutral and who didn't ask questions.

I’ve been watching idiots argue with Steven Crowder about this on twitter.

I don’t know if the Holocaust wouldn’t have happened but it certainly would have played out very differently. Mostly it would have brought the “Jewish problem” to a head much sooner and forced the German people into a clear choice. While the Jews probably couldn’t have won a head to head fight, they still might have destroyed support for the nazis.

In a sense its like the patriots of the revolution fighting the most powerful military power on the planet. We won few battles and shed a lot of blood but the British defeat happened in Britain as support for the war collapsed.

Bingo, and no one has dared tried to occupy us because of the same thing, substitute oceans for mountains.

To the authoritarian wanna bees it is always better that we “inferior people” walk quietly into the execution pit or the gas chamber. The thought we might fight back terrifies them. That why they are so enraged when people like Dr Carson advocate fighting back.

If he actually said the Holocaust would have been less likely that's incorrect. Less than 1% of the population a successful revolution does not make. However it would have allowed for greater levels of restistance, and improved an individuals ability to flee. These could have been life savers. Not worth much discussion given the nature of the regeime, but the Nazi gun laws are misrepresented as getting harsher as time went on. Guns were forbidden in the hands of most citizens, period. The 1928 law liberalized that by allowing ownership, after the issuance of a permit. That's the point to focus on. Gypsies and people who acted like gypsies by moving a lot were banned from gun ownership. The permit, of course, was issued by the government. This law worked just fine for the Nazis. Once in power, they revoked their opponents permits. Of course by that time they'd already defeated them in the streets. For all intents and purposes Jews lost their right to own arms not in 1938 but beginning in 1933, when permits could be denied or revoked. And particularly in 1935, when Jews were stripped of citizenship, non citizens not being allowed permits.

Well for one thing, they might not have had to invent the Molotov cocktail.

Good article.

Also got to vote in the October 2015 Breitbart Presidential poll. My top 3 were the top three in that order: trump, Cruz, Carson. All separated by pretty wide margins. Curly and Pretty each had 5%.

This is a lesson of history that we ha better remember. The first thing Hitler did was confiscate the guns. Totalitarians have not changed. They are still trying to confiscate our guns.

The Molotov cocktail was developed by the Finns in the Winter War against the Soviet invaders, well before the Warsaw uprising.

And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? . . . The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

I agree. I read the short blurb from the so-called 'Anti-Defamation League' that Carson was historically inaccurate. Sure, armed civilians would not have held off the full force of the Nazi Army -- but the entire scenario would have played out differently. Some of the Nazi generals and soldiers, themselves, might have gotten pissed off at the people giving their orders and made the necessary corrections.

We don't know how the history would have played out. It would have been different. I do know that if you could put it to a vote -- all of those who were swept away to the death camps would have voted to have been armed.
