Uh, wrong. Who makes the determination? How do you get the nut cases to present themselves for evaluation? Not a plan I'd put forward. Sounds like Dr. Ben kinda believes the "increase in shooting" bs the lyin' king is puttin' out there. The reality----

1993--195 million(approx) guns in private hands. "Gun" homicides- 7 per 100k.

2015--300+ million guns in private hands. "Gun" homicides---(2010 latest data) 3.6 per 100k.

Of course, if you count the inner city gang bangin' related homicides----------

It is highly unlikely that you are going to be killed in a "gun" homicide.

Correct as required.

Yeh right

Have the "potentials" call a hot line or fill out a postcard?? That'll work.

Chicago has had more deaths the year by single shooters than all the mass murders in the US in the last ten years.

This is an extremely horrible idea. The people who would be labeling and recording names of those with "dangerous" symptoms would be social workers, school teachers, psychologists, nurses, doctors, etc. -- those occupations that are predominated by leftists; people who are mentally ill themselves, and most of those being downright evil.

Yet, these very same people publicly accuse others of being mentally ill based on such habits as pursuing productive occupations, paying their bills, and living like responsible adults.

No thanks, Dr. Carson.

There are probably some psychological signs that, if recognized and addressed, could mitigate occasions where people have gone off the deep end with their firearm and have killed innocent people. I suspect we would discover it is liberal ideas that most often drive people over the edge. That said, the right to bear arms is clearly and plainly stated in the Constitution as a right that SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. What part of this language do our overseers not understand?

I agree - not a good idea.
Just as the DHS was converted from identifying and stopping real terrorist threats
to identifying and stopping conservatives,

so would such a “database” be corrupted when the left took over.

Sounds like the beginning of the establishment of the Department of Pre-Crime.

==

Then, who becomes the pre-criminal? What are the pre-conditions for determining who might commit crimes?

This would be fodder for control-freak politicians in the near future.

==

Seems like the good Doctor is adopting some of Hillary’s methods — ‘magic-wand-ism’. Just wave a magic wand and the problems are resolved.

Supposedly, the killer from Oregon was taking a number of meds for mental illness that can cause violent behavior. Currently in Wisconsin, there are laws that mandate that if you are a schizophrenic or have other mental illnesses, you are reported to a database that prohibits you from being able to purchase a gun. I’m fine with that law, it just isn’t enforced.

The Libs already have at least a partial list of potential terrorists....the rolls of Military Veterans. Nasty Palousey and her friends consider our returning veterans terrorists.

I wanted to like Carson, but I keep hearing him say stuff like this. This ‘database’ can- and would- be turned into a political weapon in nothing, flat.

Does he want that? Did he not realize that? Did he not think this through?

I don’t want any of the above in the Executive billet.

I would say to nice folks like Dr. Carson, one need look no further to manipulation of data by so-called experts on the global warming scam. There have been a number of politicians, even those on the right, calling for lockups of those who are mentally unstable. My goodness, giving the Left the opportunity to define who they consider "mentally unstable" before the purchase or ownership of a firearm...this is the Left's wet dream.

Sounds suspiciously like a Department of Pre-Crime to me. Not his best idea, to say the least.

Well this bounces Carson off the list for me. A “national list?”

No doubt collected and maintained by yet another huge politically infested bureaucratic waste site and black hole into which our tax dollars will go to abuse individuals on whichever side runs afoul of the current political climate. That goes for both sides, Rep or Dem.

As much as Dr. Carson impresses with his knowledge of neurology, I am not much impressed with the rather puerile approach to a very slippery slope.

No thanks.

“Uh, wrong. Who makes the determination?”

My thoughts exactly. If you allow liberals to decide, anybody taking any medication of any kind would end up on the list. Next thing you know, half the population is considered a “potential” terrorist or mass murderer.

The accidental Mussolini? This guy is smart with brains; he’s stupid with political power. Either he is evil or he has no idea of the monster in what he proposes would bring about. He needs to go away. Read the constitution and some history and start at square one.

That “the good doctor” could possibly even entertain such a thought should be grounds for immediate dismissal as a potential nominee by ALL gun owners. Run away from this man! Run fast!
