To Curb Gun Violence, Hillary Clinton Has a Plan for Possible Executive Action
New York Times ^ | 10/05/2015 | Maggie Haberman

On the heels of the nation’s latest mass shooting, Hillary Rodham Clinton will issue proposals on Monday to curb gun violence, including holding out the potential of using executive actions.

Mrs. Clinton, a Democrat, will announce the new proposals in separate town-hall-style events in New Hampshire, a state with a Democratic senator who has voted for some gun-control measures but where there is a thriving gun and hunting culture.

The proposals will come just days after Mrs. Clinton said she wanted to lead a “national movement” to counter the National Rifle Association, after another mass shooting, this time at a college in Oregon, left nine people dead. Mrs. Clinton has made gun control a constant in her campaign speeches since the Charleston, S.C., shootings in which nine black congregants were killed.

The proposal most likely to generate controversy is using executive action to close the so-called gun show loophole, if efforts to pass new measures in Congress do not succeed, according to a campaign aide to Mrs. Clinton, who asked for anonymity to lay out the plans before the candidate does.

That could get very ugly very quickly. Gun owners also have a plan in case of executive action, and I will be on the side of the Constitution and of decent Americans.

Another Constitution-shredding Democrat? No thanks.

It will be interesting to watch the MSM attack the next Republican President who uses the same tactics.

The ‘Gun Show Loophole’ is a myth.

Keep talking Democrats. The more you talk, the more you demonstrate how out of touch you are with the views of average voters.

Hillary! testing the water...
Herself runs it down the flag pole to see
if enough people pee on it,
if they set it on fire...
she’s good with it.

Go ahead and run on that Hill, even Obama was smart enough to hide his anti gun agenda pre election.

If I were Hillary, I wouldn't pick a state that allows legal machine guns and still has a lower murder rate than Canada.

Hopefully, the same genius that thought up the orange jumpsuits and black and white striped prison suits for her thought this one up, too.

The whole thing is, Hillary isn’t going to be president..not now, not ever....

In her mind she thinks it is owed to her, and that’s only in her mind...

The people of America have had 30 years of the Clintons, they are tired of them, they don’t care about them, they don’t want them....

Her saying anything about what she is going to do is only in her drugged little brain....

Talking about “executive action” before being sworn in is truly dumb.
On any subject much less gun control.

Let’s see. Maggie of the NYT manages to slip in the murder of blacks in Charleston . . . But fails to mention the races of the killer and victims in Oregon

Hey America! Is this what you want? More “executive actions” from a commie bimbo that will take away your rights?

Can anybody tell me when the last “gun show loophole” murder occurred?

I don’t specifically know of even one.

Unless she is indicted, she is the next president. The key ingredients will be help from the mainstream media, illegal votes, a couple billion dollars to spend and enough of those who have conservative principles either staying home or wasting their vote on a 3rd party because Hillary’s opponent is not pure enough. That worked just fine for our country in 2012.

I can hear Freepers not voting for Trump because he’s not a movement conservative.

So they’ll get Hillary Clinton. Why not vote for her idjiots?

Its effectively the same thing.

No constitutional authority. But that hasn’t stopped the progressives before.

The 1934 National Firearms Act? Unconstitutional. It violated the clear verbiage of the second amendment to the constitution: “shall not be infringed.”

1968 Gun Control Act? Taken and translated nearly verbatim from the Reich’s 1938 weapons law? Ditto.

There isn’t a single Federal, State, or Local “gun control” law which passes strict constitutional muster. They are ALL null and void. “Incorporation”? Don’t try lawyerly lies here. EVERY state admitted to the union agreed to Constitutional rule and authority. The ones who didn’t were pounded into submission circa 1860-1865.

There IS no “interpretation” possible in the plain language of the founders. They meant it this way. Read what they had to say about arms and free men.

The ONLY available route is a Constitutional Amendment.

Good luck with that. But hey, the 16th was passed without the requisite number of states, I’m sure it can be done again.

I agree, which is why I will never vote for a Dem for President. However, there are many who won't vote for Donald Trump "no matter what" when he has said numerous times that he is very pro-gun. Somehow, the logic doesn't work for me - people of that viewpoint are utterly impractical, because they don't understand that you NEVER get everything you want in politics.

Reagan said that if you get 70% of what you want, take it and run away. General George S. Patton, Jr. said, "The perfect is the enemy of the good." What is hard to understand about this? Here are 2 brilliant and incredibly successful men, both of whom utilized their experience to say that nothing and no one is perfect, do the best you can, when you can - and then all of these others who would rather see a gun-grabbing Dem who might do what they want 5% of the time (and I'm being generous here) get elected if the only other choice is a less-than-ideologically pure Republican who would do what they want 85% of the time. Not much for common sense, are they?

One final thought: the Dems/liberals/Leftists/gun-grabbers, whatever you call them, got where they are today by taking one thin salami slice out of our liberties at a time. Had they tried to get the whole enchilada at one time, they'd have never succeeded. Wouldn't it be intelligent and logical to do the same thing to reverse course, to get back what we have lost over time, when we KNOW that getting it all back in one fell swoop is not politically possible, ever?

They predictably fail to mention the race of more than half of all who are convicted murder each year.

Trump is not conservative enough. But if he actually has good ideas to save the country and defeat the RAT, he will get my vote.
