Well done, feminism. Now men are afraid to help women at work
The Telegraph ^ | 01 October 2015 10/04/2015 | Martin Daubney

Posted on 10/04/2015 6:44:39 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

A new book claims that male office workers are now so afraid of being on the receiving end of a sexual harassment case, they are reluctant to mentor, assist, befriend and even hold open doors for female colleagues.

Crushingly, the book, Sex & The Office suggests men now view such ordinary, decent behaviours as “too risky” – and, in what will be a bitter irony for equality campaigners – claims that, as a direct consequence, women are now failing to advance at work.

This terror of being accused of sexual harassment is now so common it has its own term, “backlash stress”. It sounds like something straight out of a Claims Direct ad – where the only victims are men.

The book’s author, Kim Elsesser, a research scholar at the University of California, argues that a “sex partition” has sprung up, which impedes women from building the vital network of contacts both within the workplace and socially.

And the author should know about tough working environments: she’s a former equities trader at Morgan Stanley.

Tellingly, Elsesser adds that companies themselves are contributing to this mess, as they are now so terrified of legal action they send staff on sexual harassment training courses, and are duty-bound to follow up on any allegation, however minor.

Ludicrously, Elsesser cites examples of men who have been dragged in by their HR departments for simply opening a door for a female colleague or complimenting her on a new suit. “Stories like these spread around workplaces, instilling a fear that innocent remarks will be misinterpreted,” she says.

No s**t, Sherlock!

Rather than breaking glass ceilings, some are building glass walls to support.

Some don’t realize that being a raging bitch may elicit short term gains but ensures long term losses.

Not just women, either. Minorities, drama queers, etc. Who wants to hire someone with all those problems?

Don’t want to invade a millenial’s ‘space’. It’s a wonder we’ve survived as a species sometimes...

My son works for a large corporation and they have been told not to ever compliment a woman.

Madness !

It’s not just been shying away from women at work. A large number of men are refusing to marry. Put in MGTOW on YouTube and see the men who have done a cost benefit analysis of marriage. They conclude it’s too risky and are very active in converting other guys to save them.

Well what did they expect?

It is the same kind of thing that is happening to police departments where officers are affronted by certain types of people. Then communities wonder why crime rates are soaring.

That is the problem with Liberals and liberalism — they/it never bothers to assess the unintended consequences of actions.

Feminism was all about making the invisible, hard work of women TAXABLE.

Women work, must employ others to look after the kids —those people are ALSO taxed.

The kids also get earlier exposure to the organs of gummint; “Barak Hussein Obama..! Mmm, mmm, mmm..!”

The boys later grow up to be criminals, must be put into prison, grows the state.

The girls get pregnant, no hubby, must go on the dole —grows the state.

The new paradigm: When at work, speak only of work-related matters. No casual conversation. No complimenting women (or men) on their dress & deportment. Take no interest in coworkers personal lives. Make no social friends from among your workmates. Do not attend company-sponsored events outside the workplace. Arrive at work, work, depart work. Focus only on the task at hand.

Thanks, Marxists! 1984 is a reality!

There’s something wrong with a woman that doesn’t enjoy a compliment. Too bad for them. In my working days, we just laughed at the creepers but would not have dreamed of tattle telling on them-how ridiculous things have gotten. Always like a compliment though and still enjoy men opening a door for me as I always say thank you with a big smile.

I complimented a female colleague on an attractive dress one time. She glared at me like I had propositioned her. This was in 1992. Nothing new here. Just more of the same ol'.

that is easy for me because i mostly don’t care. but i do go to family funerals. they are not friends. they are co-workers. and i’ve got them for about 5 hours a day. they should be working at work. i have friends that i met at work places.
and i do preach on occasion.
