Chris Harper-Mercer, the gunman who went on Thursday’s rampage at an Oregon college, idolized the Nazis and the IRA, despised organized religion — and talked of how killing could bring a person fame.
“I have noticed that so many people like [Vester Lee Flanagan] are alone and unknown, yet when they spill a little blood, the whole world knows who they are,” Harper-Mercer wrote in a blog post, referring to the man who in August murdered a reporter and a cameraman on live TV in Virginia, according to CBS News.
“A man who was known by no one is now known by everyone. His face splashed across every screen, his name across the lips of every person on the planet, all in the course of one day. Seems like the more people you kill, the more you’re in the limelight.”
He also showed interest in the Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook school shootings, having recently shared documentaries about the massacres with people online.
A profile on an online dating site, Spiritual Passions, shows the 26-year-old Harper-Mercer “doesn’t like organized religion” and identified as a “conservative Republican.”

Somewhere else on FR it was explained that the archive shows how many times the site has been viewed not necessarily how many times it was changed. There is a notice on the archive page that explains this too.

Yes, you are correct. There is supposed to be an indicator on the archive's "table of contents" that indicates whether the page has changed since the previous snapshot. But, I've found that it isn't accurate.
You can look at the archive's collection for Free Republic forum index page (not the home page). It has nearly 1,400 snapshots since 2008, but in a quick spot-check, I couldn't find any that were marked as "changed". But, if you look at two adjacent snapshots, they have clearly changed.
However, I did a quick comparison of the last two snapshots of the fake profile, and couldn't find any changes. It's not easy to compare them, because there is a lot of metadata in the page that is modified by the Wayback machine to maintain the integrity of multiple copies.

No, I think it was created by someone after the fact, to troll the media. Otherwise, the Wayback machine would have captured it before 9:00 PM last night.

Thanks for the explanation. I stand corrected about the page. In any case it is a false trail. If the media bothered to look at it logically they would see it does not make sense and is a rather disjointed profile.

Okay, it is fair to castigate this guy for voting for Obama. I have disdain for anyone who did not try to stop Obama because we all knew what was going to happen when he did not have to run again.
I have asked many times for whom you voted because an enormous number of your responses on threads in 2012 was to do your best to destroy Romney. We agree that he was the wrong candidate, but in November it was Romney or Obama who would be sitting in the White House. Romney was very flawed, but Obama was unthinkable. So, how about some intellectual honesty? Did you vote for Obama, Romney, third party, or stay home?

According to CNN earlier today, the shooter described himself on-line as a “conservative” and a “Republican”, even though he executed people for being Christians. Has anyone else heard this “conservative” and “Republican” claim?
