The Vatican on Friday distanced Pope Francis from Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who went to jail for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses, saying she was one of dozens of people the pope greeted in the U.S. and that their meeting "should not be considered a form of support of her position."
....Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, said Francis met with "several dozen" people at the Vatican's embassy just before leaving Washington for New York.
Lombardi said such meetings are par for the course of any Vatican trip and are due to the pope's "kindness and availability." He said the pope only really had one "audience" in Washington: with former students and his family members.
"The pope did not enter into the details of the situation of Mrs. Davis and his meeting with her should not be considered a form of support of her position in all of its particular and complex aspects," Lombardi said.

He met with murderers and the left cheered, he met with Kim Davis and they threw a fit.
lol
The fricking pope can’t wash someone’s feet without a camera there yet this meeting is in secret and now they are back peddling. Way to go RCC.
Amen!
You noticed that.
The aspect of male and female is not complex at all. The hierarchy's bafflegab has to be complex, because they seem to be, above all, determined not to "offend" anyone.
They ignore what our Lord told the Apostles to expect when dealing with the world. These misbegotten shepherds seem to think they know better than Him.
I think the point here is that the Pope doesn’t give complete 100% support to anybody really. His action in meeting her shows his support for the traditional meaning of marriage. But should not be construed as the Pope saying her actions and strategies have his unconditional support.
Of course, summarizing this in a headline is difficult.
"The pope did not enter into the details of the situation of Mrs. Davis and his meeting with her should not be considered a form of support of her position in all of its particular and complex aspects," Lombardi said...
As he left the country, Francis told reporters who inquired that he did not know Davis' case in detail, but he defended conscientious objection as a human right. - http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/10/02/pope-francis-meeting-with-kim-davis-not-form-support-vatican-says/
More interpretation of the chief interpreter. To be continued.
More like the Vatican once again engaging in damage control, "clarifying" the meaning of the pope. Whose secret meeting finally said something against sodomy than his public addresses in the US, while giving two holiness Pentecostals the an idolatrous rosary.
Which they should have rejected and reproved him.
882 The Pope, Bishop of Rome and Peter's successor, "is the perpetual and visible source and foundation of the unity both of the bishops and of the whole company of the faithful."402 "For the Roman Pontiff, by reason of his office as Vicar of Christ, and as pastor of the entire Church has full, supreme, and universal power over the whole Church, a power which he can always exercise unhindered."
Since the Vatican backtracked with the Kim meeting does the same apply with much hailed Pope Francis meeting with the group of nuns ?
You can't make this stuff up. Dealing with Vatican press releases and 'clarifications' is akin to sticking your hand in a box full of scorpions.
Was this translated right?
This sounds a bit; shall we say; judgmental.
Whom am I to judge?
Oh, lol. And that’s “Vatican” speaking, NOT the pope.
Rome has gotten weird (er than normal).
Who voted this guy into office?
A lot of controversy arises there about when he has actually managed to Exercise The Power. As opposed to giving mere earthly advice, some of it pretty kooky.
It would sure be a lot easier in the Catholic system if he’d announce that he was doing this.
Indeed, even if it is like Pope_Alexander VI, or this theological and political liberal in a fundamentally deformed church.
