Who Is the Candidate Most Opposed to Liberalism? (Rush Limbaugh)
Rush Limbaugh ^ | 9/30/15 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 09/30/2015 3:19:01 PM PDT by VinL

CALLER:...Out of all the conservative candidates that we have, which do you think -- and I'm deliberately choosing my words this way. Which do you think is the most hostile and intolerant toward liberalism?

RUSH: Well, can I rephrase that? Because those words "hostile" and "intolerant" do not describe the person that I would answer that question about. I know what you mean. You really want to know who among other candidates is most anti-liberal, is the most opposed to liberalism as part of his existence, policy and everything else? And there's one clear answer. Put your hand up if you know who it is. Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz is the answer to your question, Roberto. If you're looking for the Republican candidate who is the most steadfastly opposed to liberalism, whose agenda is oriented toward stopping it and thwarting it and defeating it, it is Ted Cruz.

If that's your criteria.

Now, if you want to ask, "Does that make him the most conservative?" That's another question. To a lot of people, that alone would make him the most conservative candidate of the bunch, too. The two probably do go together. But it doesn't mean he's the only one. There are some other candidates who are also anti-liberal in our field, both generally and issue to issue. But blanket, overall, I mean, an honest answer to your question would be Ted Cruz, pure and simple. Very clever of you, Roberto. I understand what you're doing out there, buddy. It's a very, very clever maneuver. You are a brilliant, brilliant caller out there. I know exactly what your game is, and I went ahead and played anyway. I answered your question right up front, top to bottom.

I find it Illogical to automatically support Ted Cruz because he is perceived as the “Conservative Savior”.

Exactly what is the Definition of Conservative these days as it applies generally, and then specifically to Senator Cruz?

Senator Cruz has been in the Senate a little over two years, I see some of the Bills he has introduced but what has he really done.

He is great at waxing Philosophically but what real experience and Leadership does he have? I only see another Public Service, Professional Politician who says alot but I am not sure that is enough.

I need to see him addressing more of the issues I see Donald Trump doing, especially the Debt and Deficit.

YEP. In 2012, a whole lotta FReepers either went silent or left FR altogether because they refused to vote for amoral pro-gay leftist Romney. I had been crunching numbers and knew how numerous we were -- we outnumbered those poor believers in the Tooth Fairy who actually thought that in voting for Romney they were voting "against" Obama (see my tagline). I left once the management here caved and became officially "for" Romney, and didn't come back until after the 2012 election.

Sure enough, Romney lost. FReepers -- the real FReepers, the majority of them, apparently accurately indicated what was in the minds of majority of conservatives across America. I have a hunch the same is true regarding Cruz and Trump. Trump supporters are like their candidate -- loud, flamboyant, flashy. However, I expect we outnumber them; we just mostly keep our mouths shut.

I see some of the Bills [Cruz] has introduced but what has he really done.

He has done something that no Senator before him has ever done.

He has exposed the leadership of his own party as feckless and corrupt. He has described to the voters how Washington actually works against their interests.

In doing so, he has risked his own political career.

And you contend this is NOT leadership?

It has nothing to do with “perception”, but with fact.

Also, Cruz supporters don’t deal in “saviors”, except for the one who sits at the right hand of God.

Liberals toss around that relativism crap; conservatives don’t. Well...not until recently.

If you need someone to define conservatism for you, you should stick with Trump. He’s a much more suitable fit for you.

As for Cruz, his record going all the way back to Texas has been well-documented around here and posted repeatedly. I suggest you read his book if you want to know more about him.

Ted has “led” all of us into thinking the unthinkable: that our own party is working against us.
I feel very sad when I see Senator Cruz standing alone in the laughable, republican controlled senate and it reminds me of one thing the nuns used to say about standing up for principles:
God and I are a majority.

Keep doing what you are doing Senator Cruz.

“be if you want to make a difference. RIGHT NOW, you should be supporting the right guy so the WRONG guy doesn’t end up the nominee.”

How’s that been working out for you?

This conversation is over.
*************

This is not a conversation, dawg. This is me telling you that I will be on you like white on rice, if you continue to malign Ted Cruz.

You tell me Rush and Mark didn’t mention Cruz’s vote on Corker. What’s your point? That Levin and Limbaugh don’t know how Cruz voted?????? Well, that’s a lame and damned fool reply. Are you really that ignorant?

They KNOW how he voted, and still, they say he’s the best conservative in the race. And for good cause! And if either of them had reason to read your ridiculous posts denigrating Cruz, they’d beat you like a dog, dawg.

You got a problem with Cruz’s other votes— let’s hear it, dawg. Entertain us with you political acumen - or else- get to a Trump thread and support him-— instead, of coming here and trying to tear down your better.

The question should be ?

Who can you envision taking the oath of office at the swearing in in January 2017 ?

Had a vision Ted Cruz taking the oath.

As primary time gets closer the separation of the sheep and goats becomes more apparent of who’s is who.

True conservatives are behind Ted Cruz all the way.

True leaders don’t tell people what they want to hear, true leaders tell the people what they believe in, their convictions, and go against the tide of what popular and safe.
True leaders blaze trails and paths.

Candidates who tell people what they want to hear to get elected tend to drop all pretense of caring what people want to hear once in office and go their own way.

Interestingly enough, A lot of Trump's supporters seem to be dropping the pretense of him being conservative and now relying on "electability".

At a certain time in the future it will be to late for the train has left the station.

If you have already found a candidate that is more princibled in conservatisem than Ted Cruz who is actually running for President and is a viable candidate, well then ? Good then, but many of us do not see such a candidate on the horizon.

None.

Ted Cruz IS the only candidate of choice for conservatives.

When some supporters of Trump put mammon ( money ) over the lives of innocent lives ( aborted babies ) something is seriously wrong with our culture.

When people could care less about the Christian fabric of our culture is being destroyed and dismantled daily and do not care a damn about gay marriage there is something seriously wrong.

When some don’t care what happens to Israel, there is something seriously wrong.

You are searching for a unicorn as your goal. I am not.

“Ted Cruz IS the only candidate of choice for conservatives.”

I realize you believe this. All conservatives do not - even on this site.

This election is a part of the megatrend of lack of confidence in the public sector, switching to private - and in this context, to outsiders.

I don’t think Rubio, Bush and even Cruz are considered outsiders.

Time will tell.

I have decided NOT to go dark but make a stand even all by my self.

The tide of the hordes of the Trumpers will recide soon enough.

The carpet will be pull out from under them soon enough and there will be gnashing of teeth.

The candy man Game Show Host giving them what they want to hear has a purpose.

He will peak soon, then implode.
