Carson: I'm open to considering religion as probable cause for a search of email, phone records

Ben Carson may want to stick to just providing his medical opinions.

The retired neurosurgeon and surging 2016 Republican candidate offered another controversial stance about Islam in America on Sunday, saying that he's open to considering religion as probably cause for searches.

When asked on ABC's "This Week" if he would listen to arguments from people advocating that one's religion could provide probable cause to search the emails and calls of Syrian refugees being let into the U.S., Carson answered in the affirmative.

"I personally don't feel that way, but I would certainly be willing to listen to somebody who had evidence to the contrary," Carson said. "I think that's one of the problems, we get to our little corners, and we don't want to listen to anybody."

"What we should be talking about is Islam and the tenets of Islam and where do they come from? They come from sharia. They come the Koran," he added, diving back into his anti-Muslim comments from last week. "They come from, you know, the life works and examples of Mohammed. They come from the fatwas, which is the writings of scholars. You know, and if you go back and you look at - what I would like for somebody to show me is an improved Islamic text that opposes sharia."

“There could be a day when it used against Christians.”

I agree and that day gets closer all the time.

However, Islam is worse than even a pagan cult. It is not about free spiritual choice. It is coercion and brutality and death if you don’t submit. “Islam” means literally to submit. And submitting in the fullest sense means to go out and murder for jihad.

Islam is not a religion. And the freedom to murder and oppress is certainly not what the founding fathers had in mind. The problem is that we have always accepted the false premise that it is a religion assuring that the followers rights (to murder and oppress) are protected. That is how we have painted ourselves into this deadly corner.

It is not a good idea to thoroughly investigate a refugee fro Syria entering the US? Are you mentally ill?

"You know how Obama talked about people bitterly clinging to their guns and religion? He was talking about radical Muslims."

Hah...that would make some heads explode...

O' Wait...wrong choice of a word...

I meant clocks...

Mohammed = Charles Manson.

Islam: a 1.2 billion-strong Manson Family.

wow. didn’t think of it that way. Well, 52 percent of Americans voted to destroy the country. they will go down with us if we fall.

and then silly phrases like empower, you go girl, #blacklivesmatter wont matter at all.

And forget about gay rights. They’ll be slaughtered.

He’s at least exposed another PC icon even if his proposal is currently impractical.

Currently, being associated with jihadists should be more than sufficient cause, if PC wasn’t protecting them.

Every time Carson opens his mouth he seems increasingly inclined to say something incredibly stupid and in the long-run hurtful to Republicans.

Yes, it is a good idea. Profiling works. Searching little old white Christian ladies at the airport doesn’t.

Nonsense. Others have said we should only take Christian refugees. How are you going to identify which ones are Christians and Muslims without doing some searching on their background?

We get to choose who immigrates to this country and ALL Muslims should be banned from coming here to protect our nation’s security. They are far more likely to cause terror.

As much as I despise Islam, religion is not probable cause.

Yet another reason why Ben Carson is simply not presidential material.

It makes absolutely no sense to say that a law stopping us from letting in Muslim immigrants could somehow be used to stop us letting in Christian immigrants. Those goals are 100% opposite of each other. Anyone can pass any stupid law they want in the future. We have to not elect people who will do that.

Wrong. We should let in any Christians from a country who are under threat of Islamic persecution who agree to not go on the dole. It’s a moral imperative and it benefits our country.

“If this ever happened, it would ONLY be used against Christians. But they will trick Christians into pushing for this.”

If that happened, Jews would be a handy scapegoat as well. Nice guy Ben is way out of his league. Instead of medical books, he should have read some history.

I read somewhere Islam faith folowing can be surgically removed. If Carson has any thoughts about that i would be very interested.

If muslims really want to be americans they could volunteer for the procedure.

Seriously? So you think we “can’t” monitor mosques for terrorist activity because this will somehow in some mythical future lead to churches being monitored?

News flash, if the left wants to go after Christians or Jews in the future, they will do so no matter what we do to Muslims now. There is no connection between the two.

We need to do any and all profiling, spying, monitoring, etc. of Muslims that we can. Every one of them is a potential terrorist.

This man is obviously ignorant of the implications of his statement.

What he proposes is a Constitutional catastrophe.
