YOUGOV: Most Americans agree with Ben Carson’s Muslim comments

Over half of the public “would not advocate” putting a Muslim in the White House

Controversial remarks by Ben Carson about Muslims in American politics have triggered criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike, but the sentiment itself appears to be shared by many Americans.

Last Sunday the retired neurosurgeon told CNN that he “would not advocate putting a Muslim in charge of this nation.” Politicians from Hillary Clinton to Mitt Romney and Ted Cruz denounced the comments, calling the sentiment unfair and unconstitutional, while Carson himself later said he could actually support a Muslim candidate for president so long as they swore to be loyal to the Consititution.

The American public, however, remains resistant to the idea of a Muslim president. 57% in total agree with what Carson said about backing a Muslim candidate. The perspective is shared by the vast majority (83%) of Republicans as well as four in ten Democrats.

By 52% to 30%, Americans also say Carson should not apologize for saying he wouldn’t support a Muslim president.

Here's a way for the Islamists to have their Sharia Law right here in the U.S. of A. -- at least in a geographical sense.. I bet most Americans would favor Sharia Camps.. and how could the Islamists refuse? Especially if most Americans say, "You're going."

Borrowing from an old U.S. Supreme Court case involving independent tribes of Native Americans.. (no insult to Native Americans intended) I suggest this.

Sharia Camps,

are not, strictly speaking, foreign States, but are alien nations, that the alien and dependent condition of the members of one of those camps
could not be put off at their own will without the action or assent of the United States, and that they were never deemed citizens and therefore
that "Islamists born within the territorial limits of the United States, members of, and owing immediate allegiance to, one of the Sharia Camps although in a geographical sense born in the United States,
are no more 'born in the United States' than the children of subjects of any foreign government born within the domain of that government.

I respectfully disagree with Sen. Cruz about Clause 3 of Article VI and a Muslim in the Oval Office.

Cruz was told by a dishonest reporter that Carson said the a Muslim would "not be qualified to be president". Cruz responded to the false statement and everyone has been using his response to try to show disagreement between them.

Cruz was fed false information and he responded to it.

Mark Levin spent a whole program on this issue.

The hoax about the towelhead kid and the fake clock was designed to make us feel guilty for our “towelheadophobia”.

I think you are 100% correct. A wonderful, fully assimilated family, with a young son who was particularly ingenious. A completely integrated normal American family outrageously persecuted by "us", simply for the oh so insignificant fact that he was of the Islamic tribe.

But, something went wrong and it didn't work out as planned.

They find it acceptable because it has already happened.

The frightening thing is that such a large percentage find having an islamic president acceptable.
That so many are clueless as to islamic intentions after 911 is beyond belief.

My reactions as well when I saw this YouGov poll today:

RE: Who is stupid enough to say we don’t???

27% of the respondents. Which means a huge chunk of our population fits your adjective.
