John Boehner resigns and Ted Cruz gloats (Misleading Header)
BBC ^ | Anthony Zurcher

Posted on 09/25/2015 9:27:03 AM PDT by VinL

The man John Boehner once called a "jackass" took the stage...

Although Ted Cruz may have been inclined to dance on the speaker's political grave, he made reference to the surprising news only in passing.

"You want to know how much each of you terrify Washington?" Mr Cruz asked ..."Yesterday, John Boehner was Speaker of the House. Y'all come to town and somehow that changes."

"My only request," he quipped, "is, can you come more often?"

Mr Cruz has clashed repeatedly with his party's leadership over the past several years...

After his speech today, Cruz expressed concern that Mr Boehner may be ending his tenure with one more effort at negotiation with Democrats.

"If it is correct that the speaker, before he resigns, has cut a deal with Nancy Pelosi to fund the Obama administration for the rest of its tenure, to fund Obamacare, to fund executive amnesty, to fund Planned Parenthood, to fund implementation of this Iran deal - and then, presumably, to land in a cushy K Street job after joining with the Democrats to implement all of President Obama's priorities, that is not the behaviour one would expect of a Republican speaker of the House," he said.

Two years ago ... [w]hen asked about Mr Cruz's presidential candidacy, Mr Boehner replied with an obscene gesture...

Now Boehner is gone, and it seems Mr Cruz's brand of high-stakes brinkmanship is gaining favour in the US capital. While the senator himself didn't take credit for the change, Oklahoma Congressman Jim Bridenstine - who introduced Cruz at the Washington event - wasn't so demur.

"We're going to get new leadership in the House of Representative," he said. "It's happening because there's a newly elected senator that showed up and started articulating principles that were consistent with the Republican platform."

Gvie Mark Meadows some credit. He took a high visibility, and at the time a high risk step against Boner in July with his motion to vacate the chair. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/fellow-republican-launches-bid-oust-boehner-house-speaker-n400071

So what? Sometimes gloating is a good thing.

This is one of those times.

I think someone has dirt on little Johnny Boy. His completely dropping out is highly suspicious.

Another poster quipped that there is either a live boy or a dead horse involved.

As much as I detest Boner the Kentucky Turtle is even worse. Yes, he needs to have a political boot put on his political butt and kicked all the way back to the Bluegrass State.

I don’t think anybody is “gloating”. They are just relieved. It’s time for Americans to start standing up for America, freedom and all that we believe in. We don’t have much time left. It may already be too late. Once you surrender you freedom, a lot of people have to die before you can ever get it back again. Nobody, since Adolf Hitler has caused as much damage to the world than the Kenyan has caused in just seven years. I never dreamed I’d see the entire world kneel at the alter of communism in my lifetime. I’ll give those commie bastards one thing, they are some patient SOBs. It took them a while but they’ve finally reached their final objective. A world enslaved by communism. JTWISI. (Just the way I see it)

“..You Worthless, Crybaby, Alcoholic, Traitor Ba$tard!!!...”

Professionally stated position statement. Beat me to it. It still scares me that this guy was re-instated even when everyone knew who and what he is/was, etc. Still more problems like this to be fixed for the sake of our American Republic.

So who would challenge McCarthy?

The pic of Boehner with the Pope has McCarthy next to him, as if, it was orchestrated.

People don’t like being lied to. Ted was right to call the Turtle out on his lies.

Interesting that this comes the day after Cruz met with house conservatives. Makes me wonder if Boehner didn't face an ultimatum of some sort this morning.

Well, a while back people floated Cruz for Speaker......(which he is eligible to become, given that Speaker does not have to be a member of the House.)

The Turtle of the senate always seems to have that I’m scared look about him. He elicits zero confidence or inspiration. Loser-— the GOPe sure knows how to pick these dimwits.

Even with his job in the Senate, running for President and as busy as can be, how about Speaker of the House for the interim???

Well that is how guilty people look when their hand is caught in the cookie jar. In this case I bet its a lot more than a cookie jar.and a whole lot more than just one cookie.

He sure was and no doubt McConnell is feeling the heat too. Unfortunately, both Boner and the Turtle have lucrative DC lobbyist jobs waiting for them.
