Fox’s Roger Ailes to Sit Down with Donald Trump to Discuss Coverage
Mediaite ^ | September 24th, 2015 | Alex Griswold

Posted on 09/24/2015 11:03:59 AM PDT by monkapotamus

Only a day after Donald Trump announced that he was boycotting Fox News— and after Fox News announced they had cancelled him first– the network has announced that they will enter talks with Trump to discuss his concerns.

Below is the full statement, provided to Mediaite by a Fox News spokesperson:

Fox News Chairman & CEO Roger Ailes and Donald Trump spoke this morning and plan to have a meeting next week to discuss their differences of opinion regarding Fox’s coverage of Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign. Ailes will be joined by senior Fox editorial executives. Mr. Trump believes he has been treated unfairly in certain instances. FOX News has held every candidate in this race to the highest journalistic standards throughout our coverage. We believe a candid meeting about our differences is required and that any misunderstandings can be handled without compromising those standards.

If the meeting is next week, the impact will already be felt. They’ve seen something they don’t like, or they wouldn’t have agreed to the meeting next week.

It could be a set-up too, so we have to wait and see.

My take is that Trump going back is good. It causes them to have to fear losing him again, perhaps for good.

If he stays away, they have nothing to lose by getting even worse.

Watched a good townhall last night on OAN network during the BOR hour PDT. Tim Scott from S Carolina hosted it and OAN covered the whole thing live. A very good alternative to Fox.

“If someone calls him a name or says something derogatory about him, he goes on a rant. Trump is ruining his chances with his constant whining and insults.”

I think you are an idiot, and I can be confident in thinking that I will not hear a peep out of you because you believe responding to anything derogatory anyone says about only amounts to going on a rant and whining and I don’t think as sensitive as you are will be hypocritical and do what you fault Trump for doing.

In TV debates, the political competition should be presented objectively as between candidates themselves for the benefit of citizens/voters.

Media television channel "journalists" sometimes artificially elevate themselves into "contender" roles when they, as moderators, conduct themselves as alpha male "gotcha" or female "cutesy"/clever participants.

Ailes, as head of FOX, should inform them of their appropriate journalistic duties and then hold them to those standards on behalf of the importance of their duties as journalists, and a free press in a free society.

Same ‘lesser evil/no matter what’ mindset as GOPe voters. Fully explains herd mentality of Fox watchers.

His polling negatives are already very high and will prevent him from winning IMO. I like Trump, but his attacks on press commentators and other candidates are a big turn-off and make him look like a juvenile.

“I think Fox’s life just flashed before its eyes.”

Yup. Why watch them if they are just like CNN and the others? Frankly, watching the bozos at MSNBC is more entertaining.

He stays gone, they can just get even worse.

Then they'll eventually start their long slide to become a second- or third-rate cable news channel like the others have already.

FNC built its fortunes on conservatives' backs and think they can hop over to a more-sure GOPe luxury ride. Stupid thing to try, but their lovely and brilliant minds apparently are made up, at least in this Trump matter which is of keen interest to conservatives whether we plan to vote for him or not.

I would tell Ailes that we had this conversation before, and the day after the CNN debate, your network trashed me relentlessly for 24 straight hours.

Buh bye, Mr Ailes.

Sure they do. If they stay negative, they out themselves further. If they reverse, they out themselves as having previously been biased. Trump gets more coverage on the others as they dogpile fox and hurt them more.

Win win for Trump and America to assist the MSM in family suicide.

Trump fights, Fox comes crawling. Call it the art of the deal, if you will.

Trump wins. It’s what he does.

I’m a Trump supporter but your points are very valid. Even my teenage daughter said she wants to hear more of Trump’s policies. We watch the debates together and she noticed the lack of substance from Trump. I think Trump should spend more time becoming knowledgeable on foreign policy for the next debate instead of allowing FOX to disrupt his game plan. The next debate will be critical. I said it first.

I wished I could get OAN...I seen where Palin really likes it..but I don’t have cable, and so if I can’t see it on my computer, I don’t get to see it...

I am hoping that Trump uses OAN more, so they can spread out to more viewers...

I don’t miss Fox at all, I have been without cable for two years now and really everything everyone on here says about it, I probably wouldn’t watch it anyway...

He came out and endorsed OAN yesterday and that probably scared Ailes shirtless. OAN carried his entire Town Hall with Tim Scott uninterrupted and he blew everyone's socks off too...As Trump would say "it was fantastic".

I didn't see the whole thing but my wife told me when Tim Scott introduced his mom, Trump stood up.

Oh to have (upper) class once again in the Whitehouse

And I’m blown away by every alleged conservative who is not screaming for Cruz to adopt Trump’s vicious and cruel and SUCCESSFUL tactics against his greatest enemy now: the media.

If Cruz lets them define and portray him like they did Walker- and have done to every conservative every election- he’s going nowhere.
Granted it’s still early but that is what Cruz appears to be doing.

Thanks for the mention.

This conforms to my thoughts on his appearances on what we have thought of as very Left of center (almost pegged far left) networks.

His appearances actually contribute to moving those networks to the right. Think about it (not you literally, but everyone).

1. He is presenting his Conservative views on a Leftist network
2. If he’s there for 15-30 minutes, it’s 15-30 minutes they won’t be talking about Leftist dogma
3. If he’s there for 15-30 minutes, they’ll spend much more time discussing it in their round tables. Again, less Leftist dogma.
4. This repeats late at night.
5. Advertising for their shows will quickly start showing Trump on their spots
6. They will value the higher ratings.
7. This heavily impacts an improvement on the network where he appears

Folks, this guy is a dream come true.

Does everyone understand all this?
