In his defense, he was probably getting word from his people that they had found a way to contact supporters and get them online.
While he should have been more intuitive that it was shady, who knows what they were telling him. He may not be all that savvy in the world of the internet, in terms of these types of efforts.
I’d hate to think Carson was being dishonest, but it is a possibility.
It is considered extremely bad form here to mention people without pinging them.
This is easily accomplished by simply including them in the "To:" box.

Wow—this was interesting.
Yesterday in this forum of GOP campaign managers — https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=43&v=x4q8qqZQDbs — Carson’s spoke last and said some interesting things.
He bragged about Carson’s social media count and how it was going to pass Trump’s, etc. Intriguingly, he is the business partner of Mary Cheney (how much more GOPe could you get?). He bragged quite a bit about Carson’s campaigning in Ferguson and Harlem and places where Republicans don’t usually go. He also blatantly fibbed when paraphrasing what Carson said about supporting a Muslim for the presidency.
All told, he seemed like a slippery guy. It seemed clear that Carson’s campaign is not being managed to win it all, but for GOPe purposes. My guess on the apparent Carson Facebook and Twitter followers cheat was that it fit with this guy’s MO. Also, however, he probably did it as much to try to burnish his own credentials as a social media guy in campaign management.
All around pretty interesting.
