Jonah Goldberg and the Anti-Trump Bourgeoisie
Breitbart ^ | September 8, 2015 | John Nolte

Posted on 09/08/2015 1:35:20 PM PDT by greyfoxx39

-snip- Ever since the rise of Trump, many among the GOP’s Elite Commentariat, Thought Leaders, Establishment, and the Consultant Class have been on a rampage against — not just Trump, who is fair game — but our very own voters. I’ve been watching politics for decades and until now have never seen pundits within either Party attack their own voting base. This is a very disturbing precedent.

arently, when the Republican Elite think of Reagan’s Big Tent, some are more welcome than others. Illegal immigrants are welcome. Trump supporters can go pound sand.

Ah, like leftists everywhere - and Trump is a populist leftist - targeting the “bourgeoisie.” So when does he get to go out and slaughter the kulaks to win the praise of the mob?

Since Trump does not hire advisers, of course the pundits and chattering class feels they will become irrelevant. Nobody fights like people whose jobs are in jeopardy, except 2 woman who are in love with the same man.

Outstanding article..especially coming from someone who has Trump as number 5 on his list. For the record Trump is number one on my list. Cruz is nearly tied...I just don't see him winning the nomination but would love to see him share a ticket with Trump.

What Jonah and the rest of the GOPe chattering class don't get is that these kind of insults that they're hurling at Trump supporters are nothing new to many of us. The GOP has treated the Tea Party with the same contempt and scorn for 6 years now. Who cares?

what a stupid comment. Trump didn't write the article and the author states clearly that he's not a Trump supporter. You should read articles before posting.

ya know, there’s a whole bunch of Constitutional, Tea Party Conservatives that are happy to have Trump bulldoze the opposition for awhile, as long as he’s not in the way of a true believer like Cruz, when it comes to crunch time.

Exactly.

Not bourgeoisie. That is entirely too solid and productive a description and historical class.

Muscadins. Incroyables and Merveilleuses. Gilded, effete decadents; self absorbed, pampered, soft and ineffectual. That is what they are.

I was talking about Trump (and his supporters, who honestly don’t care what he thinks about anything).

I would not always have agreed with some of the remarks with respect to Goldberg as a writer... as I mention, his book “Liberal Fascism” is a must-read. I used to enjoy his columns years ago.

But he is not a social conservative. Abortion, immigration, homosexual marriage, these are not his issues. For him the people who care about these things are slack-jawed rubes from Arkansas.

Its good to remember that prior to Trump’s entrance into the race, Cruz was the guy that NR and GOPe loved to mock and criticize. Now Trump gets all the lightning strikes. If Trump falls out of the race for some reason, they’ll go back to pounding Cruz.

I didn’t leave Goldberg and NR, they left me... as the saying goes.

“The interesting aspect of this whole upset spurt of support for The Donald, is that what is commonly referred to as “low-information voters” are starting to become engaged. Whether it is an actual awakening, or just the celebrity star power of The Donald, all the old calculations and assumptions just got kicked in the head.”

I’ve never liked the term “low information voter” because it implies there is a group of people who are making worse decisions than the oh so intelligent and sophisticated and connected political class who have handed us such luminaries as willard, mccain, boehner, and the turtle. I’d argue that most of these so called “low information voters” are merely those who quickly and correctly concluded that they had no power in determining the outcome and didn’t waste their time with a rigged game.

“Low information”? Hell, I’d argue the ones that stayed home for the last 10 years were a helluva lot smarter than those of us who stuck around to plau the uniparty shell game.

I haven’t seen a photo of Jonah in years.
It doesn’t look like he’s missed many meals.
What a whale.

You know you aren’t right when the truth is unimportant to you.

So....is this an accusation? If so, shove it!

Anyone who doesn’t agree will be accused of supporting Jeb or the GOPE, no matter how far from the truth this is.

You know you aren’t right when the truth is unimportant to you.”

How ‘bout you remove that 2x4 from your eye before you throw stones at “Trump supporters.”

I’ll tell you this: This bashing of the Republican base keeps up much longer the Republican Party will guarantee its own demise.

And the “base” will happy-dance on its grave.

“Trump supporters are out to destroy. They do not give thought to what happens next.”

You got it almost a third right. Keep trying, you might get it half right soon.

Yes, Trump supporters are out to destroy the existing political arrangements. That’s the part you got right.

No thought to the future? Project much? Unless the current political arrangement is destroyed the US as we know it has little future. With deals such as the one with Iran and the unwillingness to deal with a foreign invasion, we’re pretty much toast anyway. That will be in the very literal sense of our cities being immolated within the next 10 to 15 years thanks to radical islam, if a civil war doesn’t do it first.

Survival is the issue.
