VIENNA Pope Francis on Sunday called on every parish, religious community, monastery and sanctuary in Europe to shelter refugees fleeing death from war and hunger, adding that the Vaticans two parishes would lead the way by taking in two families.
In a speech to thousands of people in St. Peters Square, the pope said it was not enough to say have courage, hang in there to those marching toward what he described as lifes hope.
Referring to the tragedy of tens of thousands of refugees that flee death in conflict and hunger and are on a journey of hope, Francis said, according to Vatican Radio, the Gospel calls us to be close to the smallest and to those who have been abandoned. He specifically asked that the European bishops support the effort.

Since there are about 120,000 Catholic parishes in Europe, if each took in a family of five, that would be sheltering and sponsoring 600,000 refugees.
Sounds like a hefty chunk to me.

Yes, let some stranger from a foreign land you know nothing about directly into your house and jeopardize you family.
Idiot.

It’s hard to take seriously the rare mention by one of his subordinates about fighting ISIS when he repeatedly insists that true and authentic Islam and a proper reading of the Koran are in opposition to all forms of violence.

“The bishops of the U.S. have been arrayed against the people for many decades. They have been the most effective enemies of the pro-life movement. They were on the Soviet side in the Cold War.”
I am a Catholic. I am very devout in my faith. I am very active in my parish. I have become more and more disenchanted with the bishops and the hierarchy.
Do you have any links you could provide me to read about the background that supports your statements?
To: detective
Just Google and Bing. Lots of pro-lifers have written about being stabbed in the back many times in the last fifty years. Then there’s “The Challenge of Peace,” which pushed the Soviet line against Reagan.

If you are wondering how Bergoglio can spout the Left’s lies non-stop, without ever stumbling onto the truth, the reason is that he has ALWAYS, for many decades, surrounded himself with lefties and exiled those who thought differently. “Conservative” priests were exiled to the far corners of the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires, and only the liberals got to talk to the Archbishop.
