Judge: SF Pier 14 Shooting Victim Will Stand Trial on Murder Charge

The shooting triggered a national debate over immigration after it was revealed that the San Francisco Sheriff's Department had released Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez despite a federal request to detain him for possible deportation.

A judge has ruled that a man at the center of the national immigration debate will stand trial on a murder charge in the shooting death of a young San Francisco woman.

San Francisco Judge Brendan Conroy made the decision Friday after a preliminary hearing.

Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 32-year-old Kate Steinle on July 1. Steinle was shot in the back as she walked with her father along the waterfront.

I expect he will be convicted and sentence to 20 years in jail. After 5 years, he will be released on good behavior and automatically be considered a US Citizen with a Felony record. Sure he might have to wear an ankle bracelet or go through some house arrest period. But at least he’ll do the time for his crime, right?

I think it’s clear - they think he is the victim and Kate Steinle is the culprit.

The headline has been changed to read: "Judge: SF Pier 14 Shooting Suspect Will Stand Trial on Murder Charge"...

I guess someone caught the error...

Hard to believe that initially got past whatever they call an editor nowadays...

Freudian slip ?

Probably Freudian. The illegal immigrant is the real victim, not the woman he shot. /liberal logic

When found guilty, I say let’s ship him off to Planned Parenthood-—the PP ghouls would welcome new body parts-—especially those well-preserved by all that vinegary hot sauce.

And by then the Democrats will have granted felons the privilege of voting, so he can vote for them.

How could it have been in doubt? Why did it take so long to get to a prelim? Can’t charge or try illegals for murder or SF just didn’t want to?

Why not? She can now vote Democrat despite her deceased state. Why can’t she stand for trial, too?
