Cruz: I Call Upon Every Believer...to Stand with Kim Davis
TedCruz.org ^ | 9/3/2015 | Ted Cruz

Posted on 09/03/2015 1:01:16 PM PDT by DaveyB

HOUSTON, Texas – U.S. Sen. Cruz, R-Texas, today released the following statement regarding the arrest of Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis:

“Today, judicial lawlessness crossed into judicial tyranny. Today, for the first time ever, the government arrested a Christian woman for living according to her faith. This is wrong. This is not America.

“I stand with Kim Davis. Unequivocally. I stand with every American that the Obama Administration is trying to force to chose between honoring his or her faith or complying with a lawless court opinion.

“In dissent, Chief Justice Roberts rightly observed that the Court’s marriage opinion has nothing to do with the Constitution. Justice Scalia observed that the Court’s opinion was so contrary to law that state and local officials would choose to defy it.

“For every politician — Democrat and Republican — who is tut-tutting that Davis must resign, they are defending a hypocritical standard. Where is the call for the mayor of San Francisco to resign for creating a sanctuary city — resulting in the murder of American citizens by criminal illegal aliens welcomed by his lawlessness?

“Where is the call for President Obama to resign for ignoring and defying our immigration laws, our welfare reform laws, and even his own Obamacare?

“When the mayor of San Francisco and President Obama resign, then we can talk about Kim Davis.

“Those who are persecuting Kim Davis believe that Christians should not serve in public office. That is the consequence of their position. Or, if Christians do serve in public office, they must disregard their religious faith–or be sent to jail.

“Kim Davis should not be in jail. We are a country founded on Judeo-Christian values, founded by those fleeing religious oppression and seeking a land where we could worship God and live according to our faith, without being imprisoned for doing so.

“I call upon every Believer, every Constitutionalist, every lover of liberty to stand with Kim Davis. Stop the persecution now.”

Cruz should cruise on over to KY where she is, give a speech in McConnell’s backyard and lay it on the line. That said, Trump has apparently said something different than what Cruz is saying...that is disappointing.

Trump truly does need to soften his heart in this regard; we need to pray for his salvation - If Paul got saved, then certainly he can be, too.

Pray hard, and with expectation!

What I’d really like to see are some pastors making the trek to KY to stand with her, including, some black pastors who are all about black lives matter.

The Old First Amendment to the US Constitution as read by me:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The New First Amendment to the US Constitution as Read by the Courts:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, except Congress may prohibit the free exercise of religion for public officials and business enterprises when their beliefs conflict with official duties or the ordinary course of their commerce, and upon objection made by a public official or business enterprise, proscribe the free exercise of religion with jail and/or fines as a contempt of court, or barring from public office or from engaging in commerce in the United States of America; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The living, breathing Constitution.

“The real problem is JAILING her for non-compliance. Impeachment is the proper process for removing an elected official for refusal to perform legal (if immoral) procedures, not imprisonment.”

It’s all about making an example of a Christian before we get out of hand.

If you’re under thirty, I’ll give you a pass. You still have a lot to learn.

Please read my post again. Kim Davis is meant to be an example to we, the Christians, who might be thinking about a rebellion against this tyranny we call our government. And I think the Bible is the infallible Word of The Almighty.

I suppose I wasn’t clear.

“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
(Rom 13:1-3)”

Surely you don’t think this means doing things that are against the Word of The Almighty just because a wicked administration says so or makes it the law of the land. Or do you? If that were true, there would be a lot Christian martyrs that didn’t have to die. Please explain your position.

I tend to agree and she’s a TERRIBLE example to go to bat for.

How many times has she been married?

How many kids has she had out of wedlock?

How many times divorced?

How many DIFFERENT men has she married?

I don’t know her from Adam, but she seems to be a hypocrite to me. And from a 1,000 mile view, looks to be pissed at gays and using religion as an excuse because it’s convenient.

I hope I’m wrong and we’ll never know her true motives. BUT....it’s why it looks bad.

And you really believe that the Lord Jesus approves of making an argument that opens with “Just damn!”...?

James 1
26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

But in this you are correct - the holy scriptures do *not* advocate trampling righteousness simply to obey some man’s law.

Even if she *had* taken the elected position knowing beforehand that it would run contrary to the unlawful supreme court decision, she *still* would have had a duty to follow Kentucky law, the constitution, her conscience and above all the law of God.

All of these are contrary to the debauched ruling handed down by a lawless court.

God is working with her heart in this situation and she says she is acting in accordance with her conscience.

Why condemn her for trying to act in accordance with her conscience? (And in accordance with the 1st and 14th amendments. And in accordance with the Kentucky constitution. And in opposition to lawlessness...)

Since Barry has used marijuana, it’s evident that he has been breaking the law a lot farther back than when he took office.
