That is a myth.

No it's not, but it does depend on the size of the Sheriffs cajones.

Can a Catholic county clerk refuse to issue a marriage license to someone who is divorced? Under Catholic theology (IIRC), that marriage would be adultery - a sin. Lots of Baptists agree.

Can a government official impose their religious views on others? The Baptist in me says homosexual mating is sin. Period. But that would not give me the right to refuse to issue a license if the law says they are qualified.

Should an IRS official refuse to allow someone on their second marriage to file “Married filing jointly”?

Judges changing the law to include jail time on the spur of the moment?

Seems like this is why we left Europe...

She will be alone in jail. It's easy for us to tell her to stay the course and then go home to our families. Martyrdom is easy when the martyr is someone else.

And this is exactly what I was thinking. Being in Jail indefinitely is a very painful burden to bear for some people.

You’re missing an important point: the KY State House is majority Democrat. Because a lot of them play Conservative to get elected.

They’re in a really suck-a** position here. Absolutely no room to maneuver between their Conservative constituencies and the major Progressive power centers in Louisville and Lexington.

For her to do what the judge demands would means she must violate Kentucky LAW.

I believe that is what the Oklahoma legislature did when they saw which way the homosexual sh*t was blowing.

Oklahoma? Probably. Alabama. Definitely.

When it comes to choosing sides, the judge has clearly chosen Satan, but let’s not forget the police officers, court officers, and wardens who cooperate with this charade. If they stand for Christ they should refuse to lead this woman away in chains as a matter of conscience and instead stand with her. They have also chosen.

They will salve their conscious by saying "I was just doing my job."

She COULD, but it is between God and her whether she SHOULD.

I think her employment contract is with the state.

It’s the insistence that government be a party to marriage which is the invitation to mischief

Bunk.

The whole point of "freedom" and "all men are created equal" is that a free society is at liberty to make their own laws by mutual consent without them being dictated by a tyrant.

Marriage is not just some religious artifact. It's the basis of the society. And the society enforced that with their laws, which has been the case since pre-history.

The People's laws were overthrown by a judicial diktat in all of these cases. The judges should have been removed from office and the law restored.

When the system breaks down, that's when the People have the right to remedies by other means.
