Upon her election to the role of Rowan County Clerk in November 2014, Kim Davis said she felt "humbled" and "blessed." Speaking to the Morehead News, she made three promises: "I promise to each and every one that I will be the very best working clerk that I can be and will be a good steward of their tax dollars and follow the statutes of this office to the letter."
Davis's willingness, or unwillingness, to follow those statutes are now the subject of intense national focus. She has refused on religious grounds to grant marriage licenses -- to both same-sex or opposite-sex couples -- in the wake of June's historic Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide ...
Signing marriage licenses is one of the main duties for the county clerk. But Davis, a 49-year-old Apostolic Christian, objects to having to put her name on documents that recognize same-sex marriages ...
According to Rowan County records obtained by BuzzFeed News, Davis has been divorced three times. When she married Joe Davis on Aug. 24, 2009, it was her fourth marriage -- and her second to Joe, whom she previously married on the same day 13 years earlier. After her first marriage to Dwain Wallace in 1984, she married Thomas McIntyre Jr. in 2007 in between her marriages to Joe ...
Davis has worked as a clerk in Rowan County for more than 25 years. In May 2014 -- while serving as chief deputy in the clerk's office -- she narrowly won the Democratic nomination for the top job by 23 votes ...

You can support whoever you want.
Just her brave stand here renders her (pre-Christian) past incredibly moot.
To you perhaps.
Good answer!
Just who the hell are you to be so judgmental towards this woman! You are NOT God to be making such judgments. And oh, if you had any reading comprehension whatsoever you'd know that she's a democrat not a conservative!
She is a democrat. FWIW.
Four marriages makes her the dregs of society?
You have GOT to be kidding.
.
“She is a disaster. I hate that we always have the worst dregs of society as our Conservative Representatives. It doesnt seem fair to me.”
You sir need to reevaluate your judgement of people.
I have not read it myself, but earlier in this thread it had been said this lady has only been married once since becoming a Christian.
You need to read the bible before you declare anyone being the “dregs of society”.
Maybe you would have been the one who actually “cast a stone” at the lady in John 8. Or maybe you would have been like the Pharisees in Luke 7 who criticized the woman, who did not have a good reputation, who washed the feet of Jesus.
Or maybe you would have been critical of the apostle Paul who at one time held the garments of people stoning Christians. Paul of course wrote about half of the New Testament.
This lady is standing up for her religious convictions.
Religious beliefs I assume you agree with being that same sex marriage is wrong.
And the best you can do is call her the dregs of society???
I haven’t seen where she wanted to be you or our “conservative representative”. She is in fact a democrat.
The only thing I see her doing is standing up for her religious beliefs that are referenced in the bible.
She doesn’t deserve you or any other supposed conservative calling her names or defining her like that.
indifferent.
Oh I know since all the Trump cheerleading, our principles have gone the tubes and marriages by the many are perfectly acceptable.....so dang sad.
I know and we have people here putting her on a pedestal. Sick. Yes she is doing one thing right but I refuse to throw her a party and parade.
Oh you sticking up for the Democrats. You are a broken record.
I hope on the day you die that God judges you as harshly as you’ve judged this woman! Since you are NOT God or Jesus I know that you have sinned and I pray that you’re judged harshly for it.
You'd better get back on your meds....you're delusional!
Dregs of is hardly applicable,though.
.
What does any of that have to do with her constitutional stand on this issue?
And to anyone looking at this from a constitutional perspective. If you are concerned about her Christian credentials, do it on the religion forum.
