Republican Party, R.I.P. (1854 – 2016)
Erik Erikson ^ | August 28, 2015 | Erik Erikson

In 1854, confronted by the moral evil of slavery and the inability of the Whigs to provide clarity against it, the Republican Party formed. Whig Party leaders either shifted their party allegiances or quit politics altogether. Even Abraham Lincoln got out of politics for a time.

By 1858, the Republican Party had majorities in almost all Northern States even without a Southern presence. The party won the Presidency for the first time in 1860 and commanded the White House throughout the end of the nineteenth century and beginning of the twentieth century. With the rise of Soviet evil after World War II, the Republicans again commanded the White House repeatedly until the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

"Yeah butt, what makes Trumps BS more genuine???

Because he is a billionaire, has hot weemenz around him, including his daughter he would date if he wasn’t married, and he underwrites beauty pageants, and he had a reality show at one time???

I dunno what makes him “Presidential”???"

Well I'll take a stab at it. Keep in mind that we are a looong way from any voting and my own mind is not made up yet but the feeling right now is very similar to 1984 Reagan re-election, 1994 Gingrich Congress, 2010 TEA Party, and the 2014 Congressional season. Pitchforks and insurrection is in the air.

First of all you have to agree that every person you vote for is a gamble, right? We have seen such as string of evidence with Bush41, Bush43, McCain, Boner, McConnell, Ryan, Cantor, Cornyn, there's just too damn many to list. So the preliminary answer is that you NEVER really know. Add in the WSJ, NR, RedState, FoxNews, and countless others that pretend to be pro-America pro-Constitution but actually are comfortable establishment yes-men and the breadth of the problem scales to enormous proportions.

Secondly, there is a common denominator among all those listed losers - their un-erring knack to get along and just plain surrender. It is the easy thing to do. It is the politically correct thing to do. It is crisis in stasis, the status quo. Then you get a Chicago Communist in charge and the status quo effectively operates as an empowering and enabling feedback. Hence, we lose when we win, we lose when we lose, or more precisely the USA loses ... always.

Along comes a wrecking ball who quite amazingly zeroes right in on that very problem of political correctness, even his fellow competitor candidates fail to understand the wisdom in that and demand he leave the race. Instead, Trump doubles, triples and quadruples down and builds himself an immunity to this cancerous control mechanism of political correctness. There really has not been an outside-the-box thinker like this that I can remember. He is truly unconstrained by the system.

Additionally he demonstrates "leadership qualities", that means leading the conversation by setting the parameters and boundaries. He has so commandeered the discussion that people are watching his twitter feed with baited breath, and what I thought was astonishing was a few days back when they covered his simple Iowa stump speech like a State Of The Union address, live with panels of commenters. You know a leader when you see one. It's not a science, you just know when it is in front of you.

I understand the skepticism. We have the spectacle of a billionaire celebrity who has seemingly transformed himself into Joe Everyman. But it's not hard to believe. Barry Hussein isn't Joe Everyman, he was a radical Chicago Communist agitator. Compared to Hussein and Hillary, Trump really is an everyman putting on his ( more expensive ) pants one leg at a time. But he cares about his country. And that is the major difference between him and all the rest. When Boner or McConnell or McCain or Hillary or Hussein talks about an issue, it is in the context of "doing the business of the government" which means doing the business of the uniparty. They are all uniparty first. Trump is clearly running against this corrupt establishment. And he is articulating the PROMISE that what he does will be for the country. He sounds as ticked off as we are about the uniparty selling us out at every opportunity.

Furthermore, Trump has made all the right enemies, particularly the (R)epublicrat establishment, the major media, etc. He has amazingly developed all the right friends - Palin, Sessions, Cruz, etc, naming Alito as a favorite SC Justice, and more. Most importantly he is talking up the right issues - Jobs, Taxes, Military, Vets, Illegal Aliens. Now if you just take the name "Trump" out of this, and you sketch out the ideal candidate, wouldn't you hope they hit all these same targets? His accuracy is impressive.

Oh, "Presidential". Well that is so highly subjective. Barry Hussein, Carter and Clinton? Not Presidential to me at all. Even Bush43 was seat-of-the-pants sophomoric to me. Teddy Roosevelt is seen as Presidential nowadays, as was Truman and LBJ. Those latter three are comparable to Trump in brash outspokenness but they were known for wicked language, and I doubt Trump will be caught cursing on the phone like they were. He'd probably fall somewhere short of them for coarseness, but exceed them for action, particularly if it is pro-American action. IMHO, that dickhead Rubio is the slickest and most polished one on the stump, that is what a lot of people see as "Presidential", but not me, not this time, not ever again. My new definition of "Presidential" means someone who can scare the sh!t out of a friend or enemy with just a look. And who will back that up with action.

In a nutshell this is about Country first, party second. Few people fall into this category, Trump, Cruz, and perhaps Carson. However, as I keep posting in other threads, it doesn't really matter how great our "Conservative" guy is - they still have to win next year or it is all for naught. People are sensing a winner here because in order to win the 2016 election that person will need to pull in (D)ummycrat votes, like Reagan did. We are seeing this in Trump, and since we know the other way of squishy appeal ( Bush, Dole, McCain, Romney ) did not pull in the (D)ummycrats, we are taking an educated guess that Reaganesque appeal to those same issues ( Jobs/Taxes/etc ) will do the trick. If all Trump accomplishes is the destruction of the (R)epublicrat machine then he deserves a medal. If he goes all the way and takes a wrecking ball to the uniparty oligarchy then he deserves sainthood.

I'm inclined to agree. IMHO no Republican politician has the fortitude or conviction to clean up the tangled mess of incompetence and corruption in DC. It will take the political equivalent of George Patton to do this. To wit:

"In war the only sure defense is offense, and the efficiency of the offense depends on the warlike souls of those conducting it."

Do the words rat and sinking ship appear to describe the author and the Republican Party establishment?
