Republican Party, R.I.P. (1854 – 2016)
Erik Erikson ^ | August 28, 2015 | Erik Erikson

In 1854, confronted by the moral evil of slavery and the inability of the Whigs to provide clarity against it, the Republican Party formed. Whig Party leaders either shifted their party allegiances or quit politics altogether. Even Abraham Lincoln got out of politics for a time.

By 1858, the Republican Party had majorities in almost all Northern States even without a Southern presence. The party won the Presidency for the first time in 1860 and commanded the White House throughout the end of the nineteenth century and beginning of the twentieth century. With the rise of Soviet evil after World War II, the Republicans again commanded the White House repeatedly until the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

The article predicts that the Republican establishment has will soon die.

The Republican establishment serves no useful purpose. They merely rubberstamp Democrat programs and refuse to stand up for anything.

But they have declared war on Donald Trump. The current Republican establishment will go all out against Donald Trump personally and disregard the reason for his appeal.

The Whigs didn’t have a long donor list.

I consider the RINO GOP worse than the Democrats because they stabbed us in the back repeatedly pretending to be our friends. The Dems at least stab you where you can see ‘em coming.

So Eric Erickson, who is a big establishment guy, is crying about the death of the GOP?

The unwillingness/inability of The GOP to confront the illegal alien inundation is the reason for their demise.
Similar to the unwillingness/inability to adress slavery was the cause of the demise of the Whigs.

In the case of the GOP, it is self-inflicted, they sold their souls to The Cheap Labor Express.

They sold out their constituents for campaign money and betrayed the citizens.

The Republicans did such a good job of replacing the Whigs that they have become the Whigs.

Mr. Erickson and his ilk dug the grave and penned the eulogy.

Mr. Erickson, not everyone was government schooled.
There are some that remember your transgressions, your misguided ways, and to those of whom you’ve sold your soul.

It’s not just the RINO wing which stabbed us. All the so called conservatives & Tea partiers we elected have also gone underground. Must be something in DC water.

> “Republican Party, R.I.P. (1854 – 2016)”

Mr Erik, this is getting ahead of yourself because it is entirely possible and actually probably that Donald Trump will be the GOP nominee in which case your snide prognostication will completely in error.

Erik, if you really want to be on mark, change your headline to:

> “Erik Erikson, R.I.P. as a credible member of the media (2009 – 2015)”

Actually, he sums it up pretty well:

...

This then is why the Republican Party as we know it is coming to an end with only one way to avoid the splits that doomed the Whigs. When, not if, Donald Trump fades away, the party leaders will conclude they beat him and the crazy base. They will, like the Bourbons of France, learn nothing and forget nothing. Instead of realizing their broken promises and failures of leadership led to the rise of men like Donald Trump, they will conclude his decline means they need keep no promises.

The only way to save the GOP is for it to elect an outsider as its Presidential nominee who can lead the party in a fight against the President and the moral evils of the age. The party, as a hollow instrument to be controlled for ballot access will live on. But 2016 will be the moment many define as when the party left them instead of them leaving the party.

The pretend party for conservatives and lawful law.

When states have nothing in common with each other, no binding faith, no trust in the central government, the states are no longer united. This goes much deeper than simply the dying gasps of the Republican Party, as the nation will finally figure out .

The GOP died when it abandoned the American patriotic working middle class and shipped their jobs to other countries then imported their product back to their Greedy Old Party.

“Currently they connive against Trump.”

Trump has given the Congress ( and hopefully the rest of government) a big dose of ExLax and we are starting to see the Capitol Building commencing to take a huge dump! Similar process going on at the US Chamber of Communists and “K”’St. just wished that DC had really tall buildings so we could watch the GOPe jumping to their deaths!
