A Response to Free Republic Trump Critics
Vanity

Posted on 08/31/2015 12:43:37 AM PDT by Behind the Blue Wall

Why Trump?

1. Illegal immigration is the only issue; if it's not stopped soon, America will become like California -- a demographic one-party state.

2. Politics is about name-recognition and none of the other candidates besides Trump has the name recognition to challenge Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton.

Therefore, Trump is the only candidate with a chance to win who has promised to do the only thing that matters.

Please keep in mind that even if Trump were to win the nomination and even if Trump were to win the presidency, Congress still has to pass legislation that puts into place Trump’s plan. He has already called all politicians weak and ineffective - how is he going to work with them to get what he wants passed? Trump is good at making deals, but how do you know he will make the deal with the 80 (more or less) conservatives in the House and 10 or so conservatives in the Senate? Maybe he will make his deal with the moderate Republicans and the moderate-sounding Democrats?

I am no Trump fan by any shot but I think it's only fair to point out that as far as deportation goes, clearly the President himself has the power to enforce (or not enforce as we have seen with Zero) deportation laws and rules. So if Trump were elected, he could with just the "stroke of a pen" enact the mass deportations he's promised. He wouldn't need to negotiate that.

Maybe build the wall but give amnesty (with the funding never provided for the wall)?

Here's where things get a bit trickier: as far as building a wall (at least the one he's promised) he would have to work with Congress and this is where his past comments about that body may come to bite him back. I'm not sure he would be able to build as massive a fence as he's promised, it's not currently funded (not the type of wall he's promised).

I think he could get it done though, at least re-enforcing the type of "fence" we have now, which isn't much admittedly.

The issue for me comes in about the question of "amnesty". I don't believe Trump is opposed to what we here on FR (correctly) call "amnesty, which is things like "path to citizenship" or, quite frankly as Trump has said himself, "letting the good ones back in". He's said that repeatedly when talking about the issue of deporting families but yet there are many on FR who turn a blind eye to it. If he's elected, they better not be whining about it then, because he's been quite clear that he supports plans to make some of the illegals here now legal later, and in an expedited fashion.

Again, he's said repeatedly "we can take a look at them and let the good ones back in"'when speaking of deporting families of illegals with citizen children. And that's amnesty folks.

Just so you know, you have presented a fallacious argument.

Walker’s statement never juxtaposed a Northern Wall v. Southern wall only situation.

I like the Donald but he’s in good condition? He’s fat and has the look of somebody with high blood pressure.

In response to your notion, he said on TV last week that he's always had lower blood pressure. He said it was 110 over something last time checked. Said he would have been dead long before now had he been prone to high blood pressure.

“To me, he comes across as a blowhard egomaniac, rude, shallow, and feeding on celebrity and anger. He has incredibly high negatives. And there are much better candidates in the race.”

My, what incredible insight on your part. Too bad your viewpoint about Trump isn’t reflected in any of the polls.

Cruz followers need to wake up and realize Cruz can’t win this...put him on a Trump Ticket and he may win it next time. Cruz would make a fantastic President but he can’t win it this election.

Trump/Cruz is the plan for me.

I have watched Trump for years. For all the fun I have made of him..I will vote for him for 6 reasons

1. Immigration
2. Israel
3 Vets
4 Taking apart the GOPE
5 Taking apart the media
6 Blowing apart the need to be PC

I probably won’t like some of what he does. Heck, I may not even like most of what he does as President. But if he follows through on those six topics..he has my vote.

Last night I had a dream that Trump had a stroke while campaigning. I woke up knowing that this man is needed to save this country. I hope he brings along Cruz for the ride

DONALD TRUMP IS RIGHT!!!
PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH YOUR LISTS!!
A VERY IMPORTANT piece if you want to fully understand the 14th Amendment argument! Folks, some really cunning and not so stupid people are on the verge of STEALING YOUR BIRTHRIGHT AND THAT OF YOUR CHILDREN AND GRAND CHILDREN!
If you don’t have time to read the entire thing, PLEASE at least read the paragraphs I’ve extracted below. If you’re STILL unclear why those on the left are slinging all this mud on Trump over this one, understand that a large percentage of those who come here ILLEGALLY are initially unable to fully support themselves until they plug into the underground/paid under the table economy and, because the left has created a welfare hammock for them, avail themselves of those programs (at which time many do both). Those programs create a “warm and fuzzy feeling” toward these leftists Democrats, almost guaranteeing they will become DEMOCRAT VOTERS once the left has succeeded in doing away with proof of citizenship in order to vote. (Not to belabor the point, but ask yourself WHY, during his recent trip to Kenya, obozo pledged over 50 million bucks to that corrupt government for A VOTER ID PROGRAM as his Just Us department has blown well over that amount trying to PREVENT STATES FROM REQUIRING PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP HERE??)
Sorry for the rant. Here are those paragraphs that condense much of the legal info in this piece: (See the link below for the entire piece.)

P. A. Madison, a modern day master of constitutional analysis, points out that “since illegal aliens are unlawfully in the US, their native country has a proper and primary claim of allegiance on the child. Thus, the completeness of their allegiance to the US is impaired, which therefore precludes automatic citizenship.” Slam dunk obvious, I’d say.
Also, Rep. Aaron Sargent, a representative from California during the Naturalization Act of 1870 debates, said the 14th Amendment’s citizenship clause was not a de-facto right for aliens to obtain citizenship. Significantly, none of his contemporaries disputed that assertion.
Adding to this mix, here is a little case law since the 14th’s ratification.
In the Slaughterhouse Cases(1873), the Supreme Court observed that the 14th Amendment overturned the Dred Scott decision by making all persons born within the United States and subject to its jurisdiction, citizens of the US; the ruling went on to point out “that [the 14th Amendment’s] main purpose was to establish the citizenship of the Negro” and that “the phrase ‘subject to its jurisdiction’ was intended to exclude from its operation children of ministers, consuls, AND citizens or subjects of foreign states born within the United States”, thus reinforcing Sen. Howard’s construction above. So, since they cannot be subject to US jurisdiction, children of citizens of foreign sovereignities and children of foreign ministers/consuls/ambassadors cannot be lawfully considered US Citizens. Makes perfect sense.

Lacks character? When his older brother Fred was dying of alcoholism, he told Donald to stay off the booze if he wanted to be successful. Guess what? Trump heeded that advice and never touched a drop. You have to come up with REAL examples of supposed lack of character. Rude and egomaniac are just parts of his entertaining shtick and keeps us watching.

Your post raised several valid points but, taken as a whole, reminded me that the GOP House and Senate leadership seems to work well only with the one-worlders and the Marxists.

And some FReepers just seem to accept that as a brick-wall given.

Trump is correct on at least one point: Things have got to change for the better and they are not doing so under current abysmal “leadership”.

I do not agree that illegal immigration is the ONLY issue.

There are many issues we must deal with.

But, let us take your premise and analyze it.

Why is illegal immigration so important to certain people?

Once you drill down, illegal immigration is desired by those who feel government has a role in all things in life....jobs, poverty, civil rights, healthcare, etc.

Illegal immigration is loved by crony capitalists, like the US Chamber of Commerce. They want cheap labor and people who are under-educated and can be used as fodder for our economy.

So, how does supporting Donald Trump.....a man who made his billions via crony capitalism.....hope to ever change that?

Trump will not remove the underlying desire to have an underclass of workers/citizens who can be loyal voters, hard workers and offer little resistance to the state.

:: Trump was not an office holder but a businessman and his job was to maximize profits of his companies and wealth of his family ::

Not unlike the several tobacco farmers, cotton farmers and business owners (one who owned a private brewery?) who, in 1773, were doing the same thing until political pressures caused them upset.

We SHOULD be happy that such men, not beholding to their careers in politics are willing to “put-up or shut-up”.

quote “Illegal immigration is the only issue; if it’s not stopped soon, America will become like California — a demographic one-party state”

um... here the problem...

Lets assume for argument sake Trump snaps his fingers and instantly transport all 30 million illegals and their anchor babies back to their home countries and then snaps his fingers again and builds a wall a mile high between us and Mexico.

How is that going to keep America from becoming a “demographic one-party state” When Trump has stated clearly now several times that he would:

“quickly” let all the good one come back.

So lets be generous and assume 10% of the 30 million wouldn’t make the cut and be let back in “quickly”.

That means the other 27 million would be let back in “quickly” and this time they would be here “legally”

How does that stop what you say your voting to stop?

You got rid of 30 million illegals who couldn’t legally vote, for 28 million who could.

To me that seems like you just sped up the process you were trying to avoid.

Third most stupid comment I’ve read on FR. Only the fact that the two stupider comments were almost psychotically idiotic bumps this one down to the third slot.

Re your tagline: (Cruz is for real, 100%)...

Do you support the current Trump-Cruz-Palin non-aggression pact?

And...

If convinced that Trump were the only way NOW for Cruz to be elevated to higher Executive Branch position(s) in 2016, would you pull back on the negative Trump innuendo on FR?

“The Trump phenomena is Pragmatism ... As Mark Levin says we must beat the Republicans to beat the Democrats.”

Prior to Trump bolting on to the scene, we had the array of Cruz, Walker, Carson et al... And of course the Anointed One Jeb Bush... Had Trump not bound on to the scene...not become part of the mix... we would have Jeb Bush as 28% and rising twice the percentage of anyone else. Not because Jeb Bush is worth a damn but the GOPe / RNC and U.S. Chamber of Commerce would have by now created phony polls, spent millions on advertising to make Jebby a household word. Folly that it wold be — WHO among Democrats is not going to fight tooth and nail again the Bush name. I love Ted Cruz - my Pick but he nor Walker, nor Carson or anyone else could make headway against the Bush Backer Machine a.K.a. GOPe if Trump were not in the picture. The percentage of the polls is as high as it is now only because Trump has throttled the Jeb Bush.

Could Cruz, Walker or Carson or a combination beat Hillary ... it would be tough. Can Trump beat Hillary or any other Democrat WITHOUT A DOUBT....

Think of what our Government would look like under President Trump... ALL Cabinet Members would be the name brand people we can trust... many would be the fellow Primary Candidates. The EPA would be reduced greatly over a couple of years - the crazy envionuts GONE, IRS reformed - the cooks thrown out. Education gutted over a couple of years...Illegal Aliens put under control - a huge percentage processed out... Criminal Aliens GONE.

A Trump Presidency would NOT JUST BE DONALD TRUMP ... there would be dozens of trustworthy people running the government - BIG CHANGE...

Conservatives cannot change anything if we do not have a President who will work with us. TRUMP can get elected - he is reasonable - he is malleable - he will grow... HE LOVES AMERICA... he despises socialistic elements of government...

We need to keep slapping the GOPe while they are down - then put our collective feet on their necks... We need to ride Trump on our shoulders to D.C. and help him kick the sick jackals out. Then we can sit back and LAUGH at the GOPe and the Democrats ... as Trump takes action after action that the GOPe and their UNIPARTY Democrats HATE with a passion...

Trump very well could put Cruz on the Supreme Court. I think Cruz could do more there than as President or VP.

Can a VP legally be nominated for Supreme Court? Who would then become VP? Speaker of the House?

Trump doesn’t care about following protocol. So if it could be legally done he might consider it as long as Boehner wasn’t Speaker
