Full Title: Buzz Aldrin developing 'master plan' to begin colonies on Mars by 2040 as he launches partnership with university

Buzz Aldrin, 85, is partnering with Florida Institute of Technology.
The Buzz Aldrin Space Institute will open in The Fall and focus on Mars
Astronaut, the second man to walk on the Moon, has devised plan to get to the red planet using 'cycling pathways' and base on Mars's moon Phobos

The second man to walk on the Moon is teaming up with Florida Institute of Technology to develop 'a master plan' for colonizing Mars within 25 years. Buzz Aldrin, 85, took part in a signing ceremony Thursday at the university, which is located in Melbourne, less than an hour's drive from NASA's Kennedy Space Center. The Buzz Aldrin Space Institute is set to open this fall at FIT. Aldrin, who followed Neil Armstrong onto the moon's surface on July 20, 1969, will serve as a research professor of aeronautics as well as a senior faculty adviser for the institute. He is pushing for a Mars settlement by approximately 2040 after crafting a system of flights to take humans there in incremental steps.

You could be right. They’ve been raised in a bubble for sure, and many of them are cocky as hell.

Not going to write them off though. Their mentors will be/are vets and here’s hoping they’ll have a gutsy president to show them how to stand up for themselves.

Y’all write this down, so you can remember it in 25 years: by then, the last thing Americans will be interested in will be going to Mars.

Silly question, but why wouldn’t we colonize Antarctica before Mars? Its an entirely undeveloped continent here on Earth, and the challenges of colonizing it would be much easier than those with Mars.

Did you hear Buzz is getting a divorce?

He wants more space.

Thank you, the FR audience is the greatest.

Someday some high school kid will be in class reading about this, and out the window will be Olympus Mons.

Christ will return to this EARTH before they get a chance to colonize other planets. - I think I’ll try at least to just hang here until He returns. - In God’s mercy, he has allowed us to go to the moon; but getting to other planets far, far away is a BIG project. (I worked at MSFC in 1964. The engineers there took it for granted that MANY men would lose their lives in the quest for the moon. Miracle that they didn’t. I was just sure my typing errors would cause some sort of a crash.)

I hope we follow through. We still have great Americans, even if they are a smaller fraction of the population than they used to be. We have always had Obama-liberals - parasites who don’t want to do anything useful but demand that they be supported by decent, productive people. The only change is in proportions, and I worry constantly about a generation with enough parasites to put Obama within the margin of fraud.

If we settle Mars, it will at first be populated almost exclusively by conservatives. No one else takes risks with their own lives for a good cause. Perhaps they will get it right for longer than our country did, but in any case another 200 years of greatness would be a good thing for humanity. By then we should be settling other planets, moons, and space stations, and it could be the biggest flowering of freedom in history.

At the hearing, the judge’s reaction was something like, “you said *what* to *whom?*” Heh. Buzz let him off too easy.

Mars would be an ideal terraforming candidate; I don’t see any reason for human colonization until it’s a shirtsleeve environment. It also is within reach. Travel for months — one way — to take up living in a cave? Maybe preppers would be up for that. Nitrogen and oxygen in frozen form are probably available in the outer solar system, and engineering their packaging (in mineral foam ‘bubbles’) and delivery to the Martian surface (boom! boom! boom!) would give the planet an atmosphere within a reasonable timeframe, help develop the techniques and technologies for exploitation of space debris and deep space travel, and help with planetary defense against random large impacts.

[I’m afraid you’re exactly right. They won’t be the best and brightest necessarily, but a compromise to the god of political correctness.]

I’m guessing that before 2040 the aerospace industry will have developed robots that can carry out this mission at a much lesser cost.

There are all kinds of Millennials—some are even Orthodox Christians!!!!

But many are self-absorbed Nones:

http://www.pewforum.org/2012/10/09/nones-on-the-rise/

And many are participants in the Great Unlearning, even believing that humans never went to the Moon!

http://1389blog.com/2015/08/16/the-great-unlearning-how-our-society-became-so-stupid/

If they don’t believe we went to the Moon, they certainly won’t help us go to Mars!!!!

The sorry state of Millennials is the fault of the generations who went before—our generations—who failed to teach their children what is important!!!!

Lord have mercy!!!!
