The Havoc that Trump Wreaks
Washington Post ^ | 8/27/15 | George Will

Posted on 08/27/2015 3:55:02 PM PDT by BigEdLB

Every sulfurous belch from the molten interior of the volcanic Trump phenomenon injures the chances of a Republican presidency. After Donald Trump finishes plastering a snarling face on conservatism, any Republican nominee will face a dauntingly steep climb to reach even the paltry numbers that doomed Mitt Romney.

Trump never wreaked any havoc that didn’t need wreaking.

George Will on a rant, they have “stolen” his Republican party.

Consider it to be a salvage operation, as the Establishment Republican party is moribund and rotting from the head down. But there is still a lot of useful machinery that may be put to use elsewhere.

Trump is not perfect. He’s said not all that long ago he prefers some policies that we know are screamingly liberal and could even be big headaches...

But one thing I have noticed is that he hasn’t gotten into anybody’s face about any of those policies. They do not seem to be where his passion is. It looks intriguingly to me like this is a divinely arranged appointment that is going to change Trump, rather than bear the imprint of the old Donald. Trump’s calling is bigger than Trump, and he doesn’t have to be a stained glass saint going into this thing in order for that to happen either.

On a worldly plane, he’s getting a lot of advice from conservatives that he is listening to. He even seemed to come out in favor of the self defense aspect of the 2nd amendment the other day.

George “I’m writing as bad as I can” Will.

You can always write in Obama’s name on election day. Just as you did in ‘08. Sour Kraut can do it, too!

I wish he wouldn't sugarcoat it. All this waffling is obscuring the narrative.
