The real “concern” would be is Cruz a net add for the Trump Ticket. I mean in the general election, would he help or hinder Trump with the RATs and the Indies. We know we’d like him, but are there enough “we’s” to offset any negative votes from those two voting blocs. Cruz is still an “politician” in a year when they are way out of favor. Just asking.

10 percent for Jebbie is all it takes to win.

All candidates for federal office can draw salary AND benefits EQUAL to the office they are running for. The base salary for president is $400,000 a year, add in benefits, 'vacation time', 'sick time', etc.. So if you stay in the race (even if it is just on paper) for one year and one day, you're talking more than a million dollar payday from campaign funds.

I did not realize that.

Wow!

Yes, they can pay themselves $400,000 a year from their campaign funds, the salary of the President. They can do so for 2015 and 2016. There is an incentive to stay in and travel the country at donors’ expense.

WTH? Who pays them?

They can draw it from campaign contributions. Typically, when you see someone complaining about campaign debts, it is usually the rest of the money they would have been able to skim for themselves that they didn't get. When fellow candidates HELP a person who is dropping out of the race, it really is just paying them off.

I say it’s a no brainer, based on his recent history alone.

Thanks, EG. Agreed, we are in dire straits. It is encouraging, though, to see how many Americans appreciate the situation, and are willing to take what action they can. I just got an email from MA. One of the bluest states in the US. The sender told me about a sixty-something yo woman, a lifelong Dem. A MA Dem, no less. She is fired up and gung ho to vote for Trump.

Amazing.

But maybe not so much so, really. We’ve come to the point where ordinary people in all walks of life recognize the death spiral we’re in. Now they are stepping forward to do their little parts to turn the tide. They/we just may succeed.

I like Cruz and Huckabee best. I do not think the polls matter at this point. Even if they did, I am going to stick with the ones I agree with the most.

I want to like Carson but for his support of civil unions and his use of fetuses for research and questionable on euthanasia. Rubio, I marked him off my list but cannot remember exactly why at this moment. I have to look over everything again to remember.

What about Jindal? He hasn’t even had a chance.

We're all waiting to find out what your former FReeper name was, Retread.

Or, failing that for you to fess up to being a smart mouth liar.

But I think for VP he may end up with Fiorina since he's already ticked off the liberal females - he needs a woman to show he's not a misogynist.

An even better choice, if it must be a woman, would be Susanna Martinez.

Its an astute question to ask. And it may result in Carson or someone else getting the nod as a result. I think that Trump’s weaker flank is on the right, so that seems to mitigate against a lefty or centrist. I think ultimately it’ll boil down to what role DT foresees for the veep. A pretty face or a partner?

You can get up to speed on the Retread’s “outing” of himself if you read backward from this post -

Seems he thinks the Admin Mod doesn’t “deserve” an answer.
