1. Once per month, getting up from the couch, and an arduous round trip hike to the mailbox, and occasional trips to the bank.

That’s not true anymore. All benefits are loaded on an EBT card. Cash and food stamps.

Someone has to work to pay for it. If the democrats have their way everyone will be on welfare and no one working at a real job.

No wonder there are so many that don’t want to work.

“one half of them can watch the kids while the other half is working”

Except that often there is only one parent in the house.”

And NOBODY watching the kids.

The Bible commands, thou shalt earn thy bread by the sweat of thy brow...oh, wait. We’re not allowed to say that. Because...the Bible.

Two staggering points:
- with welfare, total income is a nearly flat ~$63,000/yr for wages $8.25-15/hr
- for just $3/hr more, lose 30% of total income.

No wonder there’s such fierce defense & promotion of welfare. Like the opposition to voter ID, the arguments presented are irrelevant - a whole lotta wealth/power rides on keeping the system broken as-is.

Ah, the wonders of technology, leading to productivity improvements on the professional career recipients!

I’m pleased to learn that my state of residence - Idaho - is #50 in welfare “benefits”. There are still too many freeloaders here though.

I have a simple solution.

If you collect welfare, you are ineligible to vote.

Exactly! Can the Pope say it? “Whoever will not work should not eat.” 8/20/15, since he is in good graces with the Libs lately over illegal immigration and global warming lately? /s ;)

Wow, right? I would add, “When you Rob Peter to pay Paul, you’ll always get Paul’s vote.”

In my world--if they want to understand the concept of eating day, they'd understand the concept of doing something productive everyday. Like going to work.

I know a woman like this. She was divorced 6 years ago. She got on public assistance--mostly I think to try and shame the ex. She has a college degree but no real work experience. (3 kids--high school now). She recently got a job at the university. It was a crappy job in the parking department. I think it paid $13 an hour. But, it had potential to move up or move into different departments. Decent benefits and the kids got 50% off tuition, maybe even more than that. Anyhow, it was a pretty miserable job. Listening to people call and b*tch about parking tickets and costs all day but it was a job in a decent environment with potential for more.

After about 6 months she quit and went back on public assistance.

Problem is, enacting that rule would require a majority. The percentage of eligible voters on welfare is a majority.

One goal I have added to teaching my son is as soon as possible get a job, it will suck, it won’t pay much and you will be shocked at the amount you earn and you receive due to taxes - but they have to learn that. I was looking at openings in San Diego recently and two of the 4 adds I was interested in emphasized YOU MUST SHOW UP EVERY DAY - amazing.
