As marathon talks continue, Koreas ready their militaries for conflict
Washington Post ^ | 8/23/15 | Anna Fifield

Representatives from North and South Korea held a second day of marathon talks Sunday — stretching more than 16 hours — as they tried to find a way to resolve escalating tensions that had both sides threatening military action.

But even as the talks continued, the South reported that more than 50 submarines from the North appeared to have left their bases and that troop numbers had been doubled on the northern side of the demilitarized zone that separates the estranged neighbors. Meanwhile, South Korea brought six fighter jets home early from drills in Alaska.

Still, the fact that the talks were continuing was positive, analysts said.

They want:

1. To save face for Kim Jong Un, who has escalated himself into a military/diplomatic jam and now needs to claim some type of “amazing military victory”, ergo the Kanagawa attack and these sub shenanigans.

2. Money

3. Food

All this is huge cause for concern (mines, shell exchange) but aside from a possible impending torpedo attack my guess is it’s not part of a general, theater-wide attack from the Tree Bark Soup set.

They want another 10,000 tons of fertilizer so North Korea can fake a big nuke this time.

IMO NK has gotten what it wanted with the cancellation of the US Korea war games and will sit on it’s winnings.

OTOH Dear Leader just had his vice shot for complaining about trees...

I’d say that, too, is a part of the impending demand package, as it has been in the past, from these impoverished, insane whackos.

Apparently METH is a popular DIET AID for the wives of the elite, there now, can u imagine...?

No, they do have more than 50 subs, though many are midget subs.

That threat is real.

The only big, recent NK lie about their subs was the notion that they NOW have SLBM capability:

That’s ridiculous.

Can they torpedo ships?

Yes.

First war then peace. Let them nuke it out. Zippy will do nothing.

Thank you. Still find it hard to believe. What is food in the sub? Tree bark? They will be useless after a couple of days if war breaks out. Diesel subs don't have a long range and the crew will freak out should it happen. We lost 38,000 men to continue dealing with this diminutive fool? Get it over with. Turn the lights off in Pyongyang and the country is helpless. South Korea should not be afraid, but then again, there are a lot of wimps in the south. Send all the leftist college kids to the front line. That will change their attitude real quick.
